That cooler looks to be brass. I tried the same thing, but I wasn't able to get the heat/technique/solder to seal well. Ended up with just the copper as you did.

On that note I pull the oil pressure sending unit out when changing my oil so I get as much of the dirty oil out as possible. I had a situation where 8 qts overfilled my system and wanted to easily remove some so I chose that small hole. The oil...

My 87 FJ60 previous owner "rigged the short hose" with a non factory issue, IE just bent a short piece of radiator hose, it failed on the side of the road and puked antifreeze all over, damn near ruined the engine. OE part is like $ 3.00 Went...

Coolant and oil both circulate through it, so depends on where the leak is. Rust is an equal opportunity decay-er.

You don't have to have it. As you state, earlier 2Fs run just fine without it, but you'll have to replace the filter mount with the earlier style. One of the Cruiser gurus around here says he routinely does it if the oil coolers start to leak...

id be curious to know how hot the oil temps actually get under load from someone that has actually measured the temp with a gauge. I do know that race cars (road track or similar not drag racing) can get the oil temp close to 300 degrees but I...

Good eye. I spotted it too. Our cowl has 5 louvers and builds using the full cowl/tub usually don't have any seams. Beautiful build regardless!

This thread is a bit old, so apologize for digging it up, but Aqualu is not shutting down at the end of the year. The current owner, Todd, is simply working toward retirement but he is actively seeking new ownership to continue operations. Was...
