From @flintknapper Looks like it's the port below #6. Ugh. Maybe if I remove the starter I can reach it from below. Not sure.

I've been helping a neighbor diagnose a coolant leak on a 96 FZJ80, and I found at least 2 so far. We're using a pressure tester with the system filled with water. The first one was the inlet to the heater core hard line at the firewall. That was...

Did you download and read the 3FE EFI diagnostic? Do you have spark? Answer all questions please. Did you do this?? Same idea. Did you do this?

Why would you reuse a $2 part?

Generally for brake lines the rule of thumb is to not reuse them. In a pinch some people have reused them and not have any leaks and some people say you can re-anneal them (soften them) by heating them to a dull (but not cherry) red and letting...

The copper gaskets are 90430-10074. IME it's easy to go to partsouq dot com, type in your VIN, then search through the sections. Sometimes it's quicker, once you're on the page for your model, is to click on SEARCH then type in what system or...

Really not trying to give you a hard time here, but you're asking for help and you still haven't answered any questions that were asked. You seem to be determined to pull apart this engine without performing even the most basic diagnostics, and...

Your video shows an empty hole where the distributor should be. You can see the top of the oil pump and the cam gear that drives it spinning when you crank the engine. Not sure what to say here. What you're saying makes little sense.

Get a new mechanic. Basic explanation The gear is on the camshaft. The distributor engages with the gear, and a tang on the end of the distributor shaft drives the oil pump. If the gear is turning, the camshaft is turning (unless there's been...

We learn by watching and doing and messing up. I think if you don't know what a distributor is you're going to need some in-person help to show you the ropes and get you on the right track. I am not saying if you put the distributor in it will...

jonheld replied to the thread OBD 1 code 35 and idle at 2k.
I will reiterate a previous statement. If the TPS is not adjusted according to the FSM or is malfunctioning, none of this will work correctly. The TPS is what "tells" the ECU that the throttle is in the idle position.

Not exactly sure what you're testing and how you're testing it. In a previous post you said that you were getting the correct resistance readings across the 4 coils of the ISC valve according to the FSM. I assume you're now testing continuity of...

jonheld replied to the thread OBD 1 code 35 and idle at 2k.
Error codes can only be shown without the engine running, key in the ON/RUN position and pins 3 (E1) and 6 (TE1) shorted. You should not run the engine with those pins shorted unless you are adjusting ignition timing, as it prevents the ECU from...

jonheld replied to the thread OBD 1 code 35 and idle at 2k.
The TPS has an idle switch internal to it that tells the ECU that the throttle is in the idle position. I would verify the TPS before going further down this path. If the ECU doesn't "know" that the throttle is in the idle position, nothing is...

The ISC valve has a stepper motor. By sequentially applying power to the motor coils, the motor will "step" to the next position. It will not rotate. The movement of the plunger for each step is less than a millimeter. On a 3FE when you shut...

If it indeed is not working you should be able to open it up and clean it. I have never worked on the center diff lock but have successfully opened up, worked on my rear diff lock and got it to work. Again the center diff lock should not be on...

And after the battery terminal clamps, that would be the very next thing to check. There are 3 fusible links in the set. Each one feeds a separate sub-system. Check fuses/links with a meter, not your eyeballs.

Check out my other thread. Theres more info there. This one was just to post my video :) sorry bro very new to this stuff
    • jonheld
Well, how about some background information other than "the engine won't start." OK, you started multiple threads for the same issue. Which thread should we use to continue to discuss this issue?
    • jonheld
OK, I understand now. You're looking down the distributor hole hoping to see movement of the oil pump. That can't happen without the distributor in place. The cam drives the distributor, the distributor drives the oil pump, and there's no timing...
