We went with the Thule Hullavator. Not an inexpensive option, but certainly the easiest way to load a heavy kayak on the roof. Can be added to factory side rails with Yakima towers and crossbars. Possibly Thule as well.
Thanks for the mount tip @1911 ! Simple design, uses existing bolt holes, has a rubber pad underneath to protect the dash. Decent path to run hidden wiring. Looks like a winner to me. May have to pull the trigger on this!
Two things added/done this morning:
Gamiviti dash accessory mount installed. I had been looking for a way to mount my phone on my dash, because my 20-year-old GPS that is mounted up next to the rear-view mirror is slowly sh!tting the bed...
The two center-most rivets I needed out came out easily by popping the center pin with a small drift like @pb4ugo said.
Gamiviti accessory mount installed; for now it is just held in with a couple of big sheet metal screws I had laying around...
Really odd how my 1982 has slotted screws... that's how it came to me 10 years ago, and no way the PO would have done something to swap those over. Bob what does your 43 have?
