I researched aqualu bodies quite a bit and feedback for them. Aqualu is in Canada where steel fj40 bodies go to die. I believe aqualu has been making aluminum cruiser bodies since like 1990. You can find guys on here in Canada that have had a...
I lost a couple doing that until I made a habit of putting the cap in the cradle for the filler nozzle. Even if I forget, it’s in the way of putting the nozzle back. Been working for last couple years.
Don’t grind those welds down too far like I did. I made my metal so smooth that I didn’t need much body filler but the welds cracked in a few places after one year of driving.
I still love driving it, just life is in the way. Work gave me a shared commuter, so I don’t need to drive my junk as much. Nothing to complain about, just less reason to drive the 40. Funny thing is less driving means less desire to work on it...
I bought an electric mtn bike, took the kid to ride at Whistler. Wife is loving driving the cruiser around the valley. Frame repair seems to holding, but I should check again. Still need to finish the winch upgrade and the tube fenders. Picked up...
I wasn’t gonna say anything, but when I pulled into Missoula Saturday night there were a couple stupiduties parading around downtown. Ten inches of lift 24” rims with rubber bands for tires. Lots of under lights to show off the rims. Looked real...
Drove through the bitterroot last Sunday- no smoke. Did a mtn ride down in Sula, lots of fun. Guess I got lucky.
Cruiser Content- spotted four ‘40’s between Missoula and Salmon. Bitterroot never r disappoints. The one in Salmon had some sweet...
So is it as smooth as silk? That might be my favorite thing about these engines. No dead spots or sputtering.
Get ready to work out some kinks. Took me a summer, but since then it’s been nothing but joy!!
Took it out to enjoy my latest time suck. Went to a trail I haven’t ridden in years. The cows had chewed the trail up back in the day that we stopped riding it. They’re still there, but seem to be a little gentler this time around.
Thanks for the heads up on the delete kit. This will be a new one to me, but I should be able to muddle through it.
For the harness I agree, I’ll more than likely thin out the factory wiring. I did my LS harness, it wasn’t too bad.
What are...
We do them often in the shop here.
Scoggindickey.com has the best put together kits using GM parts. Not the cheapest but it’s fair and all there. Great customer support as well.
Why not send your ECM to Brenden at LT1swap.com? Should be...
That is just tip of the iceberg with these motors. Smooth easy starts are nice, but it’s the throttle response that gets me excited. The F was a good motor. The SBC was sweet. The LS is a joy to drive.
Sooooooo, I might have a line on a low-ish mile 2010 suburban that appears to be lightly totaled. L92 V8 and 6 speed auto. That means it has AFM/DOD, boo. I started looking at the delete kits, so I can see what I’m getting in to with this motor...
Ugh, me too. I’m still excited and enjoying the process. I’m just not sure I have the skillset to match the tool I’m allowed to use.
Both fenders are skinned with inner fenders now, but I realized I screwed up on the flange that bolts to the...
So project A.D.D. continues…
Yep, I’m back to working on the tube fenders. Winch still needs wiring. Drivers side top skin is fully shaped and welded. Very tedious and I’m still no where close to show quality. I am learning though and I enjoy...
I looking for a non running suburban to be picked up in Mountain Home Idaho and brought to eastern Idaho( Victor would be ideal, but I could meet off I15 somewhere as well.
So things happen and it appears the 60 is moving on. I was made an offer on the vehicle that was too hard to turn down. The good news is this sale will help fund the 45 build. It’s still up in the air on the next iteration of the drivetrain will...
Spent the afternoon working on my metal bending skills. Made up some new front corner brackets for my hood to replace the rusted out ones.
Need to do some more work on the hood before I weld them back in
