Kewl VW sign.

It was a two sided sign that blew over to my grandmothers house a long time ago when a tornado came thru Halls and Gibbs. I traded one side for some VW work when I was building my car.

Awesome! Are you going to chop the rear qtrs?

Negative, gonna leave the body pretty much stock. Only bad thing, it will take two bodies to make one good cruiser. More to come.

I don't mean shortening the body, I mean cutting them horizontally to help departure angle...a 60s kryptonite! I would do it while you are welding & filling. Saves you body damage later.

Not sure, I am doing that to a jeep rock crawler that I am building also. Think I posted a pic of it a few posts back. Haven't seen it done to a 60 yet. May leave the body as stock as possible, even though it will be made from two cruisers.

well I just looked back at the picture I posted of the Jeep and it was an old one before i cut the 1/4's. oh well. may post one of it tonight.

With all the rain here in Knoxville, haven't had a chance to work on the frame. I did get the H55 trans scrubbed down and primed and painted in New Ford Grey. I know, Ford color on a Toyota. What the heck was I thinking. Couldn't find any other engine paint that I liked and that would go with what I was doing. :meh: Some before and after pictures. Attached Images

Been awhile since I did some work on the 60 but got a little done the other day. Got some of the dash out and trying to get to a point where I can take the windshield out along with the other ones. Hope to start cutting the roofs in about a week. More to come.

Hadn't checked out the thread in a wail. Looks like a lot of good work has be going on with the 60. Nice shiny frame, painted H55, and a rust free body? Wow. How's the 4BD1T coming?

the frame is only sand blasted right now. It's gonna get a coat of rust bullet and then some single stage black paint. Got a new thermostat housing and a master seal kit for the 4BD1t and mostly painted up and ready to start puttting back together. Work on it is slow right now, been busy at work and and studying for a test for the Air National Guard. More to come i promise.

Well I finally made it happen. Got the roofs cut off and switched. It is tacked into place and needs some fine adjustment to make it right.

Here is what's left of the old body. The back half is sitting out side now. Next is the finish welding the top on and then finish the frame. Just about to finish sand blasting it and ordering some rust bullet tonight. Next week is going to be busy, just bought a 1962 Bridgeport Milling Machine. Gotta go pick it up Monday and then find room in the garage.
