Welcome...love the rigs, the 100 is sweet.

New Fj to play with

Hi I have been offroading on and off for years. I broke down and bought a FJ Cruiser in December. Rose (wife) and I like to explore new trails and meet new people as well . I will be posting pictures soon
We look forward to meeting all of you soon.
P.S Any trail runs this Saturday? 2/10

WOW! I haven't checked this thread in quite some time. Hello to all the new participants that have shown interest in our board and our club.

I've met Doron once or twice through Scotty B. His 100 is super cool, and I enjoyed reading about your Mexican adventures.

DRdoor,

Sean King just posted about a run he is doing the 10th with some FJC's. You might want to jump in there. Sean is a great person and one hell of a wheeler. It was meeting him that got me real interested in offroad exploration about 5 or 6 years ago.

This LC 94 is not only my first LC but my first automobile. I was a avid moutain biker and bicycle comuter for many years I made it all the way to age 30 befor I broke down and got a combustion engine. I have pinched syatic nerve that has really kept me off the bikes more than I would like but that is another story.

I live in Tucson and am the lucky owner of a 1994 fully loaded Land Criuser. This is my dream machine and I have not even gotten into mods yet.

I just got married and my wife and I are looking forward to many xplorations in the LC. i would love to join a local LC club and go on some 4wd adventures with other LC owners.

Just a short introduction of myself but glad to be here.

Talk to you soon.

Hi all,

My name is Ryan and I currently live in Salt Lake. I am looking at getting a FJ40 and have a few questions for anyone who will listen. The 40 will not be my daily driver, but I would like to not have to trailer it. That being said, there is a '68 that I have been looking that has a 350, but still has the three speed trans. Is that going to be a pain on the highway? Also do you have any advice on specific items to look at on the truck? Any help is appreciated. I am sure that this has been brought up in other threads, but I have been unable to find them.

Thanks

Welcome.

A 350, even with a 3 speed shouldn't be a problem on the freeway. I drove 1900 miles with an old F engine and a three speed to get to Arizona. I'm now running a built-up 2F still with a 3 speed and can run 75mph on the highway with no problem.

New to this site not to wheelin though, not a Cruiser owner, but a "mini" owner/builder as you guys call em, was referred here by a buddy with an 80 we just fixed up, Did the Jeep thing for 15 years after my first "mini" which served me very well, but in my native Washington State the trails at times were too tight for all the sheetmetal of a truck, so along came the Jeep, now a new turn in my wheelin hobby has come along and it's back to a truck.

Am good and ready for some good abuse from the Cruiser guys and hope to get out and wheel with some of ya this summer when mine gets done.

Here's where I'm at so far. On the front springs, steering done, needs rear suspension yet and then all the little crap. :D 85 SC, GM 4.3/700r4 and Dana 300 case. a couple of 60's with 5,38's and Detroits and some 37" Goodyear shoes. Links and coils front and rear plus a few other goodies alng the way. The pic shows the rig at ride height. Trimming will comence when the suspension is all done.

Welcome!:flipoff2:

A bunch of us own or have owned minis, runners, etc. the only place where I see you catching abuse is from your choice in motors, my swap choice would be a 3.4. Nice truck.:D

No worries on the abuse, I would love to have a 3.4 or a 4.0, but I got what I fealt was a deal on this engine that already has the OBD II stuff dealt with and was ran in a 90 4runner so I got the throttle cable and powersteering hose too. Plus a bunch of other stuff like an aluminum rad, Sandersons etc. Plus the 4.3 makes about twice the torque as the 3.4.

Will do a build up thread once I get closer to driveablity.

Hey SY

Great to see you active on this forum. Your rig looks great! I can't wait until we can hit the trails again.

What's the tq rating on a HO 4.3? I didn't think it was that much higher than the 3.4. Just curious.

Oh, and WELCOME Sy! :)
