is a 12v and 24v alt the same minus the external reg? (1 Viewer)

I don't think so, they have different windings.

External regulator and the rotor are different part numbers.
Have you looked into Hitachi alts? They make quite a few that look like they can be made to work...even come with vacuum pumps.
I have a thread on this forum somewhere where I talk about the model numbers and give a link to a website.
Search on Hitachi and vaccum and you should hit it.

i found that info, unfortunatly you info is to find a 12v alts, i am looking for 24v ones, good pics though. i have no prob converting to internal alts, but need to find modles of truck that had these 24 v alts to swap out.

Actually, I will have a 24v one to sell too. I forgot about that....but it won't have a vacuum pump on it. It will also be a fine spline.
