Like the title says I'm looking to buy my first FJ40 - found this locally and would like to get some advice on potential issues, watch points, estimated value and so on. A little on what I'm looking for: a reliable daily driver, needs to climb up to the ski resort I work at (7' for 15miles) '77 Land Rover 88II with a 2.5l crawled up it at 30mph - never again. I am willing to do basic work and cosmetic work - anything major and it'll be a first, not looking to do full restoration job (I'm not a purist - not yet anyway), but project work is fine. I've not seen it yet and would like your opinion, just need to know what I should be looking for / asking when I go have a look. Thanks in advance for any help. BELOW IS ALL THE...

1973 FJ40, all complete, F six cylinder with 3 speed, all original except shackles and added aux fuel tank. I started this project but don't have time to finish it. I purchased lots of parts that were needed and just don't have the time. It has some cancer but all the parts are available to repair it. This would be a good restoration project or stick a V8 in it. It does not have a top but I do have full doors with good glass. The majority of it is original paint. Registration is current and its smog exempt. It runs decent and is drivable yet not street legal due to lights need some work. Too much more to list so call with serious interest. I am looking for a father/son "project" for my sons first car. I had a great 78 some years ago that I was planning on keeping for him but had to sell for financial reasons. I am now looking for something that doesn't need much body work if any at all (any paint condition is fine). Ideally stock 6 but a 350 conversion could work. Really something we can work on together over the next year and then customize together once he turns 16. Location near Houston would be ideal and budget is 6-7k but could go higher if basically ready to go except customization (like lift/interior etc). Thanks.

Ok, ok, I guess I'll officially throw this out there. Just some brief back story. I've been a member for awhile although I don't post much, just spend a lot of time drooling over everyone else's rig. I'm a Toyota fanatic having owned a Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, 2 4runners, Sion and a Prius :D. I have loved the FJ40 since seeing one at a bank several years ago but always figured they were more than my budget could afford as the only ones I found were pristine and expensive! So fast forward to today I'm back on the search. I'm not looking for a perfect show truck or a rock crawler. I'm looking for something mechanically sound that could be a daily driver with an occasional trip to some green trails or camping trip. I'm a handy self...

I first saw it listed out of the Rockies (CO), then in a few months it popped up out of NE Arkansas, and now it's in the Tulsa area and has ran the course of several, reserve not met, auction listings. In the most recent, I believe it was bid in excess of 20 grand:hhmm: Looked like a damn stout bid to me, but anyway I really like the look of it, and would like to...
72 FJ40 w/ 396BBC, H55F, 6", lots more
Long story short: Had this rig since 2008, drove as my daily for 2 years then moved back home to Colorado for 6 months, and abruptly moved to Chicago, hence Cruiser has been in storage for the last 3 years. Last started up in January when I was back in town and ran fine (will need a carb adjustment and new batteries along with the usual freshening up. Truck is still garaged in Colorado and I've realized I won't move back anytime soon, thus am putting back on the market. Has a CA title (never changed plates when I got to CO) and has current California Non-Op registration. First the bad: basically just some minor body stuff. Has some bondo on both fenders (previous owner), little bit on the front of the hood and I think a bit...

[GA] 1974 FJ40 Rolling Chassis w/ Title
Hey guys - I am on the very tail end of parting out this 1974 FJ40 and it is time to put the rolling chassis up for sale. I have gone thru the PO's stack of receipts (I will provide them to the buyer) and it appears he has done the following: Sandblasting and primer of the frame and axle housings Possible POR15 of the frame (or he just bought the supplies) Possible rebuild of steering arm and hubs (rebuild kits were purchased from TPI 4x4) New shackles New tie rod kit The rolling chassis is still at the PO's storage so I have not been able to go thru the frame and or other components too thoroughly. I will have it hauled to my mechanic's shop this upcoming week. What is included: 1974 FJ40 frame with valid TN title Front and rear...
