I just finished my 3" exhaust, and although time consuming went pretty good, so I'm thinking that running some intercooler piping shouldn't be a big job.

I'm still undecided on the best route to take and don't have a clue about the proper size of intercooler to use. I've looked at the pictures in these threads

I'm curious about the safari kit, intercooler size, pipe size and the route they take. Also I'm interested in how they route around the turbo air intake.

Anybody have any pictures or advice to help me out?

not the most elegant set-up, especially the 270 degree turn out of the turbo... but, it works well. no lag, good boost, cool EGT's. there's only one or two picts that show the routing of the intercooler... but one pipe goes under the battery and there is a hole cut beneath the passenger headlight. the other tube sneaks outside the fender, then up under the bumper across to the driver's side of the intercooler.

Thanks for the pics. Anybody got any dimensions on size of the intercoolers pictured? I like the idea of cutting holes under the headlights to keep the piping a little straighter and shorter rather than routing outside the frame. I'd like to see this kit installed: Safari Intercooler System as it seems to have a lot less piping than the ones I've seen.

How much of a reduction in egts are you guys getting?

Thanks for the pic, is that how everbody runs the pipe, outside the frame?

I all my pipes are inside the frame.

Then the pipe goes under the battery tray as seen in next pic.

It is all a bit crowded under the air filter box because of the york compressor taking so much space. The aluminium pipe was just a temporary solution.

The cooler itself.

The cooler is custom made for the 80 here in Iceland, I think here you could also pick up the pipings from a exhaust shop. My pipes are a bit modified because of the air compressor.

Many of the 80 here have that intercooler setup.

I like the perfomace of the truck, but I have no "numbers" for you. Never been to a dyno nor do I have any boost or exhaust temp meters.

No we really have no use for AC, it would be nice to have it few days a year, but most of the time we need the heater more.

I also have no worries about overheating the engine, for these almost 4 years I have had this truck I have never seen the needle rise over the normal temp.
