Hello,

I am interested in a h41 transmission for my Canadian spec bj60. (currently a h42)

I did a search and found a h41 out of a bj42.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/diesel-jdm-parts/180783-wts-h41-4-spd-3b.html

I need to make sure it will fit in my bj60, or can be modded to do so.

I believe the bj42 and the bj60 have different top plates.

I am not sure if they are interchangeable.

Any input will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Deo

probably not the definitive answer you are looking for - but Im pretty sure they will interchange. Ive not done it myself.

Hi All:

If you are speaking of switching the top plates from a H41 to a H42 (or visa-versa) there should not be any issues, AFAIK.

Just be sure that the tranny you are buying is indeed a H41 - since they were never standard-issue in TLCs for the North American market.

Regards,

Alan

I can state that the top plates ARE interchangeable. I just swapped the H42 in the FJ55 to an H41. I'd echo what others are saying in that the H41 is NOT standard on ANY 'Cruiser officially imported to Canada/USA.

The top plates will interchange. Your 60 has the shifter hole further back then a 40/42 tranny. Did you get the t-case as well? The split case that is in your BJ60 will not work on the H41. At least all that I have seen are the one piece case.

I have a 40 series h41 and a bj60 tranny out of the truck if you want to see the differences.

It "should"... All 42s in Canada came with split cases, but as far as the rest of the world...who knows.

Can you get a picture of the back end of it?

The split case that is in your BJ60 will not work on the H41. At least all that I have seen are the one piece case.

I believe there are both out there. Count the tranny output splines. 19 splines and it's a split case tranny, 16 splines and it's a single piece transfer case tranny.

The rig is from New Zealand, so I guess this is rare part, here in the states.

The seller assured me it had a split case from the factory and shifted flawlessly.

He recently upgraded to a h55, and doesn't need this transmission any longer.

With the h41/4:11s in place and a set of 34-35s,

I'll be able to get a nice rubber overdrive.

This combo will also be able to get "out the hole".

So I will have the best of both worlds on the trail and highway.

It is way cheaper than a h55 and is a direct replacement for my h42.

No need to change drive shafts or modify the t-case.

I will post up some pics when it arrives.

Does anyone know how much one of these weighs?
