The cruiser took one for the team today. Wife and kiddos are ok, just sore from the impact. She figures the Titan hit her doing 35-40 mph. They were at a dead stop. The impact slammed the cruiser into another car, damaging the front end too.
Here are the before pics:

Would be interesting to see how much damage the 80 sustained compared to the Titan.

Compared to the Titan, it will probably buff right out.

Edit: didn't read those were *before* pics... I was going to say, the 80 looks... perfect...

Wow! I'm glad your family is ok. I know from personal experience that Nissan trucks do not fair well against 80s in that type of collision

The receiver hitch, spare tire, and rear bumper absorbed most of the damage. Without the hitch and the spare in place, the damage would have been way worse. You can clearly see where the was spare pushed into the panhard bar. I'm confident the tire softened the blow. The hitch taco'd and broke on one side. The tacoing has pulled the rear of the frame in a few inches on both sides. The rear bumper is also taco'd, resulting in both rear flares being separated from the body. There is damage to both lift gates and some on the rear quarters. The tail light is busted. The grill and headlights are pushed in and the hood is cocked. The front bumper is bent. I'm not sure if the panhard bar is bent. The spare fell out on the drive home.

You were able to drive home? WOW! I would dare to say that the Nissan was unable to do the same! Hope everyone is OK, with no long term damage to them.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Man, glad yall are OK. That Titan is done. The 80 took it like a champ.
2x that. But, a bent frame on a 16 year old rig may spell TOTALED. Hope not. I know that virtually anything CAN be fixed, but the insurance company will cost it out for repair vs book value. You may want to buy it back and have it fixed on your own. Good luck. John

Damn the rear bumper is really banged up, and that is some some serious steel. He was going fast!

Holy Craaap!! That Titan is toast. After seeing this I'm glad I sold my titan a few years back. Glad everyone is okay.

Yeah, my most precious cargo is safe thanks to the cruiser. Recently, the wifey and I were discussing a Corolla to scoot around town. Needless to say, neither one of us will even consider anything other than a cruiser to move the family now. This accident occurred less than 2 miles from our house. I'm confident the outcome wouldn't have been so great if they were in a small car.

We think he was doing at least 40, which is the speed limit on the road where it occurred. She was at a dead stop waiting for the light to change. He never touched the brakes.

The car in front of the cruiser took it pretty hard, although the front of the cruiser doesn't look too bad. In addition to the rear frame damage, I'm concerned about how cocked the hood is.

First and foremost, glad to hear the precious cargo is safe and unharmed. Unfortunately, I'd have to agree with inkpot. Insurance will probably total the '96 80 series based on book value vs damage.

looks like the start of a great trail rig. get out the sawz-all.
