So this is my second post here. Thanks to all of you who make this site what it is!
92 Land Cruiser 3FE engine bought 2 mo ago
not sure what the tranny is in this thing...
192k
work in progress...
Anyways, when im driving in 1st, 2nd and 3rd everything is fine (95% of the time) but when it shifts in between 3rd and OD or when the torque converter (TC) locks up (i cant tell) BAM!!! it makes my toes cringe, it sounds so bad.. and you can feel it slam into gear. It doesnt matter how light i "feather" the gas or how hard i slam the pedal its the same.... If this happens a lot, I can smell burnt tranny fluid. I have a feeling its not a good sign but I was wondering...
If anyone knows what these symptoms mean and/or how i can further troubleshoot these problems.
Is my transmission going out?
What options do i have now?
FYI I have already put grease in all the u-joints in the drive axles
I plan on adjusting the kickdown cable in it to see if it will help with this issue but since i can smell the burnt tranny fluid in the cab and out, I have a suspicion that it will be a more involved fix...
Thanks guys
oh yea... IH8MUD rocks!
