First, many thanks to Redline (over at expeditionportal), and most honorable mention to 24HOURSOFNEVADA for helping me make my decision on tires & wheels.

Paint color was a no-brainer after seeing this:

That's "464 Beige". My original "4K1" was shot. Clearcoat was so bad the primer was showing through and I was starting to get some rust on the edges of the doors, tailgate etc.

Tires: I know some people need tires and they do about 30 minutes of research and go buy some tires. Not me. For me to throw over $1000 at something I'm going to be stuck with for a couple of years, and that has my family's safety riding on them, I do a LOT of research. As Redline said, "We had a lot of fun beating it to death!"

I finally decided on a set of LT255/85R16 Toyo M/T's. Also went with a set of OEM 70 Series Land Cruiser steelies to replace the cheapo steelies I had on it. Finally she looks "just right"!... Give her a week and she'll have some "desert pin-striping" and a nice patina of dust and grime to augment her natural beauty. If she continues to perform as good as she looks, I'm a happy boy! :)

Here's what she looked like when I bought her.

Here's what she looked like a month ago, in the middle of my "$600 paint job" prep:

looks awesome!

Nice wheels...;)

That's a very nice looking rig!

what did a set of those wheels set back the smart shopper? :D

Not sure if I'm supposed to say it out loud.... better ask The Parts Guru. I will say they were more than double the price of the Discount Tire cheapo steelies I replaced.

BUT I'm sure they are rounder, lighter, stronger, handsomer, perfecter, and Toyota-er.

;)

Not sure if its an issue to display what you paid from CDan. Everyone on the board gets the same discount. Unless you have near 10k posts :flipoff2: I'm sure. And CDan often times tells the list costs and sometimes even the MUD cost.

Besides, showing what costs are will help sell more parts and will reduce stupid phone calls to CDan I'm sure :P

wow, that looks really nice. almost like a UN vehicle or something. A far cry from the dark green metallic that is my LX450s. Ive seen a lot of nice paintjobs on mud, and yours is one of the nicer ones. Basic being nice :)
One of the other ones i enjoyed was the camouflage one. If my paint was in not so good shape, i might consider doing that. :hhmm:

That came out exceptionally good.

I travel from El Paso to San Antonio once or twice a year. How much longer does it take going through Sanderson and Del Rio to SA instead of staying on I10?

Very nice colors on the rig and the wheels. Are you planning on painting all the window trim black again or leaving it as is? I personally would do the black trim, but it does look good this way too.

that looks awesome, great job

That looks great...I love the tires.

Best Land Cruiser color without a doubt, had a 60 with the same desert beige...Well, that and the Mustard color found on some 40's...

It looks amazing. Great job on the cruiser.
