It seems the only retailer I can find that even offers full float rear ends is Specter ($450 for the assembly, minus brake components and 3rd member), and they've got none available.

I remember years ago it seemed they were alot easier to get (though still pricey). Are they really getting that difficult to come by for 60 series Cruisers?

I'd love to get my hands on one and be able to set it up and install it before spring.

Try Georg at Valley Hybrids in Stockton, CA 650-576-2023 or Mudrak in Sonoma. Man a Fre, Cruiseroutfitters, Cool Cruisers of Texas. Call, don't trust the internet listings. You might also try Steve at EBI cruiserparts in BC or G and S Cruisers in BC.

Even though Specter is out of them, they might be expecting some and may be able to tell you when they will get in.

The last two batches around these parts have come direct from SOR, so if they are out I don't really have an source. I have another importer I was using out of Aussie but unless I commit to 20+ of them its a no-go.

There 'might' be one or two available here locally but they are likely more than the $450 by the time they have gone through a few hands. I'll check around and let you know if they are.

You might try some of the Canadian Cruiser shops?

I'll have to ask Georg if he's got any available once I have the money set aside to front for it. He's the one I'm getting my H55 and tcase from, so I know he's a good guy to do business with.

Kurt, that's another option as well, the Canadian shops. It's not too far of a drive for me, so I'd be able to make the trip in one day if I can source one from up there. Wonder if I could get a decent price on one if I did.

Crawlin Cruiser has one but not sure if its a 60 series or not. I think it is. Not sure on price either you'd have to pm him

I have a complete hub-to-hub F/R 60 series set in a trailer by my shop (along with a clean 70 series body and doors for sale). You might PM lynchmob to see if he wants to sell them. Not sure if he has them up on the JDM/Diesel classifieds or what his plans for them may be. I keep eyeing the front knuckles, so hurry! ;)

Don't contact me, I know notheeeeeng.

Groovy. I just PM'd him to see if he's planning to sell it anytime soon. I'm hoping my budget (and timing for cleanup and install) will allow me to get one in before winter hits in Spokane so I can have the Detroit in it and 60 series discs put on it. Don't worry about the front knuckles. I don't need those :D

VT, Cruiserparts was one of the first places I looked, but no luck at all.

Doh, sorry about the mis-info. It looks like these are 70 series FFs. :(

You probably know that by now. I assumed they were all 60s as he just sold a nice pair of cable locker axles late Spring for a steal of a price.

i just got one from them a few weeks ago...they implied they had them by the truck load:meh: 5bills shipped.

For the complete assembly sans diff, or with diff too? I didn't see any listing for it on their website, so I assumed they didn't have any.

they don't list them on the site, need to call or email them.
i had a bit of a hassle to actually order it. i was emailing/haggling with one guy, he said i needed to call and talk to the other guy to do the order, whom said i needed to email the first guy to order...so one guy took the order via email, then the other guy called me for my cc info a few days later.
complete rear less the third.
the brake parts on mine looked fine other then being dry for some time. i'm replacing everything from the hardlines to wheel cylinders anyway.
going to be ordering a 40series floater from them soon.

Yeah, definitely call them up. I paid about the same ($450 without shipping).

I have three sets of cable locked 60 series axles - $4500 CAD per set + shipping (front and rear, as is, with cables). I won't be selling any used parts until the summer rush is over sometime later in September.

I have one 70 series rear FF, but but it may be spoken for.

You may laugh but if the axles are in good shape, providing the rear is a full floater, that's not that bad.
I may have actually went for that deal if it weren't for shipping and the fact I put a couple grand into my ARB locked, completely refurbished rear full float.
I would love to have front and rear factory cable lockers.

this may be a totally noob question here, but can you use a SF 3rd with a FF axle?

Are you sure about that esh? On my 40 I swapped around thirds all the time, I mean the fronts on both 40's and 60's are FF and you can swap those thirds around. Now, having said that, when I replaced the ARB's in my 40 (after both had grenaded) I had the option of ordering FF replacements, which I did (I put a FF in the 40). The difference was an extra side gear, which also meant no access cut out for the C-clips so full float only. I've never seen a FF 60 rear end apart, so really I'm talking out my butt, just would have thought the thirds would be interchangeable. Now axles with factory lockers, that's a different story...

false.

it is said that using a sf 3rd in ff housing makes for an axle that's weaker than a ff with a ff 3rd....has to due with the cutouts on the sf 3rd for the C clips.
however the sf diff can be used in the full float housing.
many people do it....most places want 4-500 for an oem lsd ff diff, not including the housing, which is 5bucks alone.
however factory locker diffs and housings are different and may or may not interchange with a semi float if you are creative enough.
