End plate-how do these damn screws come out?

I'm this frigging close to having that cam out. The end plate is still on there and those screws are in really tight. I mean REALLY tight.

What giant screwdriver works on these things?
I tried the biggest screwdriver tip socket on my breaker bar. No luck. I backed off b/c I was trying not to destroy the slot.

Maybe use the impact on it with a big screwdriver tip? Impact driver? I'm stumped.

Hints, anyone?

Impact driver with a large flat blade tip.......

3F E torx bolts per Poser's post in the FAQ. CDan will be notified.......

Like Andrew says, they're staked. Remove the small amount of plate material that is driven into the slot of the screw and they come out pretty easily. Reinstall the torx screws, if you can get them (later model screws).

Staked into the slot, I had no idea.
I'll examine closely when I get home and get after them.
Thanks for the tip. Gotta love Mud!

Yep. Look for chisel marks on the backing plate near the screw slots. If the engine has been worked before, I would also expect some locktite.

It appears they are staked on one end only so I pushed the material out and tried with the impact wrench and socket tip from before. Bent the tip and scratched the end plate. That pissed me off.
Going to try again tomorrow with something else......I COULD NOT EVEN BUDGE THESE SUCKERS A MICRON!

What a pisser, meh.

I had to carefully drill some of mine out. Part # for the torx screws is 90149-10001 they are really nice.
