Hi All,

I am going to change my brakes very soon and I am trying to understand what breaks should I get. There are several brands that are on my list now and prices are so different and it is unclear what would be the best value for the money we pay.

Here are the brands I have on my list:

RayBestos
Wagner Thermoquiet pads
Akebono
EBC Brakes
Hawk HPS
NAPA Autoparts
Centric

What breaks do you have and what would you recommend for GX470?

I have Akebono on GX470 and LS460

I too use the Akebono ceramic pads w/ Centric Premium rotors. Brakes have been excellent since going this route, and no issues at all.

I convert mine to 150 series front caliper. Rear is same so no need to upgrade. Total cost when i did mine was less than US$500

I use silver zinc coated caliper from eBay.. Its brand new and still looks great after a couple of years.
The caliper piston are about 14% larger. In theory You would need to press deeper for same piston travel, but the upgraded rotor and pads grab so much better than my worn OEM brakes that i do not feel any different.

The rotor are 4mm thicker for 150 series and resist fade much better.
I use Raybestos R300 from rockauto. They are only $5-6 more than centric premium at that time so why not.

Use Akebono Performance Ceramic front and rear.

I am impressed with your decision to go with 150 conversion! This is very smart!
