My line for everything.... "Look babe I just want YOU to be comfortable when we're out in the woods wheelin. Therefore, all of these things are mandatory and we'll need them sooner than later bc it's almost wheelin season in the mountains."

Ok so here's the deal, Babe: It's 1 pair of shiny new shoes for you for every pesky little silly mod for me. Ok?? I know, I know, call me crazy Babe but hell, I just want you to know how much I care. And a new bumper?, well heck that will get you silicon.;)

Posted this in the 100 section when it happened but good for anyone needing ammo for convincing on a bumper.
Last month coming back from skiing with my 6 year old a highschooler decided to turn into a parking lot from the right lane of a two lane one way road without actually looking and cutting right across my lane at about 30mph, tried to stop but couldnt.

Ford focus, guessing a good bill to repair:

My truck, need to adjust the bumper a little.

One thing I've wondered is when armor becomes a detriment. If the other vehicle crumples then it is basically absorbing the force of the accident for both of you. But if you hit another vehicle with similar armor, the force of the accident will be transferred to the frames of both vehicles. Maybe with swapping 5mph bumpers for steel armor it's not a big deal, but the laws of physics say that energy has to go somewhere.

Ya, I've thought about that. But properly designed bumpers (like ARB and others) still allow for crumple-zones, so if it hits hard enough, you still benefit from the design

Ouch!!

Take em off...THROW EM AWAY!

That way...when you add sliders, you can pretend it was a FAVOR to her. ;)

What sorts of items does she like to buy?

I felt like a test case for this. I was stopped in my LX 470 when I got rear-ended by a Mitsubishi Montero with a heavy grill guard..about 4000+lbs I expect. I had a stock rear bumper. Given my truck's weight it was likely he was texting and hit me at 20-30mph. Impacted the rear-bumper and trailer hitch, which slightly buckled the left rear frame member at the hitch mount. His bumper was bent up a bit, but he drove home. Escalade in front of me took the brunt of my TJM, taking out corner body works and twisting my TJM into the headlight and crumpling left front fender. It was an off-angle hit on the Escalade, so not sure if it would have been better or worse, if squared up. (definitely worse for them I expect.) (my frame was easily pulled straight, given the location and minor bulge, and we brought the TJM bumper back pretty square also.)

Yeah, its her DD though, and she uses them to put the kids in the seats...Im 6'3 so don't need any kind of step. I don't like sliders either, I like the clean look, I also want to remove the factory rack, but she likes it. One of the tires is leaking a little air though so I think I need a new set of BFG ATs.....
