Cons:
  • 3rd row windows don't allow entry/exit of children like the LC80...
How "Dukes of Hazzard" is that???

but I know what you mean...:lol:

That's probably why they turned it into a vent window..... small dog and child safety :D

haha "How "Dukes of Hazzard" is that???" that was a funny

I take that as a compliment! :) Seriously, with Britaxen in the 3rd row seat in an LC80, the sliding window is the perfect position to get them into/out-of those seats. With 5 point seating, the kids can barely move their head forward as it is, no chance at all of them "escaping."

I may have done the same thing myself... or may not have, depending on how many Child Protective Services employees read the board...

Seriously, I really miss the sliding windows. Mostly for the dog though, as my kids are older now (10 and 13). My vents rattle so badly on any kind of uneven surface that they just stay closed. There is no fix for them either, as the pinned joints in back are just "loose", allowing vertical movement and rattle. Hinge points are tight, as are contacts with glass itself. :frown:

"HE'S TOUCHING ME!!!!" Three kids in the back. Curly hair is my niece. I know she's a little young for the booster. But I got rid of all the other car seats once mine had grown out of them. She was visiting for a couple days. Three kids fit fine if you can get them to stop touching each other. Usually we stick one child on each side with a DMZ buffer in the middle. Reminder to all parents, keep you eyes on the road:eek:

Saw the last pic and realized I have a pic or two laying around as well... so here is a pic of two full size car seats and a booster. You can see from the booster that there is plenty of room between the door and the booster, it's the same for the full size car seat on the other side.

And something else (that may have been mentioned) is AC vents for both the second and third row are outstanding.

With 4 kids, our LC is the family mobile, replacing a '95 Honda Odyssey. We were in the market for a Sequoia, because it does have more room for hauling people, but after test driving the LC and now having owned one with my in-laws owning a Sequoia - I do not regret one little thing.

Plus the used LC was cheaper than a new Sequoia. As for the minivan thing - we wanted 4-wheel drive and my wife had enough with feeling like she was going to be forever stuck in a minivan.

...
That said, I'm seriously thinking about a Honda Civic or something for our daily routine. Hauling my two kids doesn't justify the size of the Cruiser for all the 'round town, back and fourth junk we do everyday. I'd like to get a little car for that and save the LC for big trips, camping, off-road, snow... We'll see.

I'll sell you my 99 Corolla. I was using it for a commuter but it's scary to drive a little car after you get use to driving a 100. After a few close calls with cell phone distracted Soccer mom's in SUV's I parked it.

No kidding. All the ones around here (soccer moms, that is) seem to be in massive Hummer H2s with 22" chrome wheels...

I almost got plowed into going to class yesterday morning, doesnt help that the car I was driving's roof is as high as the door handles on my 100. People just dont see small cars, plus dont stop and wait for ya, causing lots of close calls. They stop when they see a Mad Max Mobile coming though.

Too bad if anybody hit you in that the unibody would crumple and your second row passengers would end up supporting a big ass gun with their heads...

Little legs can activate the rear heater accidentally even when you have the AC to max trying to stay cool.

I thought I had a defective front heater switch in the front until I figured out how it was getting turned on from the second seat.

That depends on your system. Mine is a single rear switch in the front and rear controls on the ceiling. Never the less it can be set to a contrary temperature.

Sorry for resurrecting an old dog....:o

However, I would like to ask to those of you who have (or had) installed children car seats in the second row: Where are the "top" tethers for the driver, middle, and passenger's sides?

Cheers,

MWL

They are in the back, on the floor in front of where the third row seats are (or would be). Mine (2004) have a little flap over the anchor.

Hi. I have a 2000 cruiser and am about to switch my child car seat to forward facing. Is there something I need to do for a tether? Is my vehicle equipped with a tether point?

Based on what I read from paflytyer, the tethers are on the floor in front of the third seats.

What you need to do is to install the seat using either the LATCH of the second row seats or the seat belts, and the tether to the back of the seats.

Cheers,

One more question:

Has anyone have two car seats and an adult on the second row seats? I have a convertible big britax (1 1/2 year old), and a front facing britax (4 year old).

Cheers!!!

Not in 2000. It's seat-belt only unless you want to drill/retro-fit.

Ok so 2000 doesn't have latch system. Is there a tether hook up on this year?
