Piedmont area of NC still seems to have gas, 87 octane running at $2.99 a gal so better than some areas, I guess. (Though that was a few hours ago, may have changed since then.)

OK, we are off for this weekend. We have no gas. Stations will only be selling to gov vehicles starting tomorrow. We have started gathering a group but I think we have all we need for this weekend. Yall just stay put for now, we will be needing help for a long time coming. Myself or Greg will give the word when we are ready to roll, but for right now, it doesn't make sense logistically. Thanks, Jes and all of CottonLand

I can't make it anytime soon to help but would like to send money to help buy supplies you may need. Please give an address if you are even getting mail at all. Keeping y'all in our thoughts. Joe

Gentlemen,

hope everyone and their families are safe.

Nice to see lots of folks pitching in to help...we're keeping pretty busy at UMC getting patients transfered from the coast.

I'm really not sure how we can help if we're not gonna be able to drive anywhere once gas is not available to the public! Let me know of plans to help out and I'll gladly pitch in with donations.

take care,

Jes, do me a favor and let Greg know that I got his message. His phone number is all garbled though so I can't call him back. However, I have now located my cell phone (shut up Steve) so that's good.

2nd.

Todd, are you thinking about heading down a little later, if so let me know, got my dually and have some time off right now, so i can make it down there.

Okay, here's the deal. My wife is a branch manager for a security guard company. They have a branch in Jackson and are needing travel trailers to house the extra guards they will be needing over the next few weeks.
I MAY be heading over there this weekend to deliver one of these campers. They will be picking up the fuel bill. If I do come over, I will stock up on fuel before leaving.
I will let you all know if I am coming and you all can let me know if you need me to bring you anything. I will be glad to load the truck down with anything to help you all get by.

Probably next weekend or the one after I think. Or both.

Todd, let me know if you do, they are sending my old unit in there, and we never ask questions first. There orders are the same as we had in Iraq, and we had about the best ones there.

If we can set up next weekend or the one after lets make it happen. If Jackson is OK maybe we can head down to Gulfport or such as a group and help out.

Hey glad to see some folks on line from MS. Couple things I've heard on the news. Upstate SC should be getting fuel from the pipeline sunday afternoon. Kinda like David said, more fear of no gas than actually no gas. atleast in GA they suspended the gas tax so that drops the price down like 15 cents. Upstate Cruisers donated money to the Red Cross today, and next weekend we are planning on running a food drive. Not sure where or when, but we will be puttin the details together this week on the SC page here on mud. I just put the idea to the rest of the club today so waiting on everyone's input. So as long as we get a good response, which I believe we will, anyone is welcome to join us for the food drive. But I also understand that we all drive very gas efficient vehicles and can go anywhere on a tank of gas....haha. hmmm that brings an idea I wonder if we could make this a national food drive of fellow cruiser heads...I'll send a message to woody and see what we can do. Stay safe guys and gals and I'm glad to hear from ya. I survived hugo back in 89 so I know what you're goin thru. Later Chuck

Greg and I are heading down to the coast first thing tomorrow morning with 150 gallons of petrol. We already have generators at the location but until they get "gen'n juice" they are just in the way. Greg found us a guy that would loan us 2 70 gallon fuel tanks and along with some other plastic cans we will make the trip. 150 gallons of fuel sounds like alot, but for a bunch of generators running all day it's kinda s***ty. With all of the work that we put into the effort to get the tanks and to only get 140 gallons, well,,,,,,,,,I feel like I am pissing on a forest fire. However, this will not be the only trip that we make. Since our goods are worth more than their weight in gold, we will be loaded for bear. The only problem is that Greg is like Ray Charles with a gun so I guess I am on my own. I will give a detailed report of the conditions and hopefully supply some pics when we get back. My church has a webpage that is setup to accept donations but as of right now it is down. I will post it up when it is running. These donations go straight to my mother-in-law and then to people that know how to get s*** done, no pork in-between. I will keep yall posted. Thanks, Jes

I am headed out from Virginia on Sunday AM. Bringing a generator, 20 gals of gas, 10 of diesel, tarps, water, etc... I am from the Pascagoula/Gautier area, so that's where I'll be. My Grandma lost everything, as did my Uncle. At least they have a place to stay with my sister, and mother in north Gautier. I thought about trailering the Cruiser down, but according to my family it isn't needed. All I can really say is I thank God that all of my family is okay, and thoughts and prayers are out to those that have lost family or haven't heard from family. I would also like to say thanks sooooo much to all of those that are offering up help.

I just spoke with Brent, and he asked that I post for him. He has been in contact with Graig, Jes, and Jeff. No need to scramble for numbers.

Barry,

Glad to have you back with us.
