Well it looks like I've settled in on the 275/70/18 size, now the hard part of picking which tire.

I do very little driving(joys of working 5 miles from home) so I normally prefer a pretty aggressive tire but don't love the noise. I've been reading that this Yoko is very quiet compared to other M/T's. Anyone on here had experience with these tires yet? I run the new Firestone M/T's on my FSB and love them but they're pretty noisy, but so is the rest of the truck so I don't mind so much. Thanks!

I'm sure somebody with experience will chime in, but I just bought a set for our 40 that should arrive and be installed next week. Tire noise will be undetectable in a 40 tho 🙃 Read and heard a lot of good things about the G003s, so figured we'd give them a try, too. I had a set of the Firestone M/Ts on a work truck and although they're great off-road, they are loud AF on the highway.

Check the Tires and Wheels forum as I want to say there is a thread there about the tire.

For me, I had the Cooper Discoverer S/T Maxx on my old FJ60. They were incredible tires aside from only lasting about 30k miles. On road manners in the old 60 were great, off-road was even better, snow/ice performance wasn't bad but wasn't great and on the road until the last 5k miles or so they were QUIET. So much so that when I first got them a buddy was riding with me and commented at how quiet they were. He was expecting them to have the standard MT style hum/drum but there was nothing.

The G003 imo is the best tire for the 40. Something about the tires (maybe it’s the country of origin-Japan and/or the way the side wall diagonal side biters were designed) that really compliments the 40’s rawness.

Back to topic, I have tried many MTs in the past, they all sound quiet in the first 25k miles. But after that, the noise starts. That’s also the reason why at that point I sell them and get a new set.
