I'm trying to wire up a new stereo and it has illumination lights on it. Needless to say when I remove the key from the IGN switch the stereo's light stay illumined?

Typically I should just wire the orange/white (ILL) wire to the red wire (+12v w/IGN on) since this is at the IGN position switch. But in my case when the IGN key is pulled, the orange/white wire always pulling .7 volts; should I just drop a diode across the two wires to drop the voltage by .7v? I’ve prodded around and all of my IGN wires pull .7v, but my dash is totally missing and maybe I just have a weird floating GND?

Any better ideas?

Thanks

I have the illumination lights on mine and if wired correctly they dim when putting on the head lights. There is a wire in the truck at those plugs for it. I don't have the diagrams anymore as they aren't needed. I followed the wiring that came with the wiring kit, everything matched color for color and worked perfectly.

In my case I just had to go out and buy a Japanese head unit, and I did don't understand the wiring instructions.

I just went out and bought a 1 amp 12 v diode and wired it from the IGN +12v to the illumination marked wire on the head unit.

The world is all well now.

Thank you for your help.
