well i got around to stopping myself from tooling around in the 911 tonight and sanded/primed one of macneills wheels i bought off of him.

They are gona be flat black, a temp solution till i find the 800 dollars to strip the chrome off my current wheels and PC them black.

100 dollars for a set of wheels w/ caps, 50 dollars on paint and other misc supplies....

just a teaser shot

That looks pretty good. Maybe I should have just done that instead of buying LX wheels and PCing them.

i scuffed them. that wheel had a little gouge out of a spoke, so i had to sand it a little more then the rest. Ill take pictures of the process when i do the next one later.

Mac, do you still have the LC wheel for your spare? Ive got an LX wheel if you wana swap :D

Yep, it's under the truck. Brand new tire.

What shape is yours in?

its under the deck. Brand new tire.

Its in perfect shape. I took it down for the first time earlier this year and put a chrome wheel as my spare instead.

Im gona post up a few pictures of the progress in a few mins.

Looks good. Are you clear coating them? I've been wanting to do the same thing as I'm too cheap to powder coat! Anyone else that has rattle canned...how are they holding up?

I also covered up the stupid chrome trim strips with some black sticker vinyls. No its not a huge body wrap with stupid yellow colors....just a matte black.

picture discriptions,

I'll trade ya. If and when I ever get the TJM rear tyre carrier, I'll want the LX spare.

How much to rattle can it for me? :D

Loud, sweet house!..oh yeah, nice 911 too...

ok i came across a problem today. i dont know how the hell it happened, but the paint that is on the trim peice behind the licence plate is lets just say, worthless. the vinyle i was going to wrap around the chrome trim peice PULLED off the frickin paint. So now it must be painted back to match the car.....or DOES IT?

i know its a terrible photochop but i need to go to manhattan in a few. how does it look? It matchs the grille is all i can say. I pchopped the emblems off because i didnt feel like trying to make them black, but pretend they are on there in black.

oh, ill add the front look with the wheels photochopped black.

I like it ( I`m a bit biased on the "black-out look" however ;) )

BTW... Nice Photochop work Loud

Thats looks really nice. What specifically did you use?

I have been mulling over the idea of changing the look of my 05 to a look similar to a 97 40th Edition. My 40th (recently sold :frown:) was blacked out in most of the places my 05 has chrome.

Were the wheels a pain in the butt to do? Did you sand or use a stripping agent?

Oh, the first to get the black-over is that damned center console that acts like a mirror when the sun is in the wrong spot.

my center console is black! older 100s FTW. The wheels havent been a pain in the butt to do, but ive only completed one of them and primed one. I just sanded them with 320grit paper and hit it with automotive primer, then waited a day and hit it with flat black. It started raining the other day so ive since stopped production because im keeping the porsche in the garage. I washed it the other day and really dont
feel like getting it dirty, so my "paint booth" is closed. Now that the suns starting to come out ill most likely have the wheels finished by saturday, and once i get around to ordering 15 lugnuts from Sin i should be good to go. I wish i had a set of BFGs laying around tho, its going to look so lame with all blacked out but stock tires.

sin, we ALLLLLLLLLLLL know here that if i could, i would just take your truck minus said dents(craters in some areas) and pinstriping.

Question i have for yall, should i keep using the flat black paint like i did the grille, or should i use "plastidip" to paint the emblems and the rear trim peice? Its like a rubberized kind of coating, my friend recommended it to me as many Audi guys use it for a DIY blackout grille.

two more pictures, top one, i covered the chrome garnish trim peice with vinyl like i did the chrome trim on the moldings. You cant see it in the picture, but when i tried to cover the lower chrome, it pulled the paint off the center part a little, cant believe how crap they designed it like that. second picture well, flat black looks soooo much more sinister, like the truck wants to eat you or something.
