through the river and over the woods.
ok i know how to take my emblem off, but now look at the wheels!

How do you get off the L (or T) emblem off the rear liftgate? You know, the one next to the wiper. Trying to do a few exterior trim mods and taking off all the emblems is apart of it.

Fishing line to get emblems off and some adhesive remover for the gunk left.

ok, thats what i thought. ive taken the V8 off and lexus off, i just wasnt sure how the center emblem was attached, thought it might be screwed on from behind.

I heard that emblem was screwed on. I would check some more first. I think there was a thread on this before, as I also considered removing my tacky gold letters and using a retro logo from a 40 instead.

I thought I might have read somewhere dental floss or the such...

yeah ive used dental floss before on previous projects. Ive just never taken the main emblem off before. Ive taken lexus and model designation off a few different cars.

I removed mine this weekend. There ARE three nipples on the back. We used a heat gun (hair dryer is a good substitute) and fishing like. We used a non-petroleum based degreaser to get the rest off. It's not too bad.

The center "jellybean with a sombrero" emblem on the 100 series has three prongs on it, so you'll have to account for the three holes. You can see below how all the rest of the emblems can be deleted:

i just took 4 jelly beans off hub caps! damn little nipples, now i need to fill the holes.

How do you plan to address this? These emblems are the reason I did not proceed with the project. Not worth the expense of new hub caps, but the gold has to go!

plastic filler from a hobby shop. Like bondo for plastics. Fill the hole then respray the caps. I WAS going to powdercoat the set of toyota wheels i have black, but i was just informed today that the PC shop could do it to my chrome wheels after they strip it.

Did you do those caps yet? I am anxious to see how it comes out before I start mine.

Uh, pics?

pix on the wheels? I havent done them yet. Im in a stage right now, dont know if i want to get rid of the LX or keep it. I should have the emblems done soon tho. I need to sand them down and paint them first.

I think im just going to rattle can the LC wheels i have, instead of paying out the butt to get them PCed. Ill save the PC for the custom wheels i have.
