Just a note, i have 34x12.50 trxus tires on my rig and i have experienced no rub in the back at all. I have rubbing up front on the lip of the fender that has since been cut off with the old cutoff wheel. I think my ten inch wide wheels make the shoulder of the tire more square and squat so it doesnt rub. I have around 3 inches of lift in the suspension and one inch of body lift fyi. I think if youre gonna run a 12.50 tire you should run the widest rim you can, you want the most footprint possible.

again depends on the design of the inner wheel not backspacing.

This is an instance where buying local has a big advantage. Your local dealer will be more than happy to simply put a new wheel on your truck to see if it clears before a tire is mounted to it. I would gladly pay a little more to not hae the potential of dealing with a mail order return.

Or do a forum search for exact part numbers of wheels that work. Again look for a recent post as wheels that have worked in the past no longer do, due to the inner wheel being redesigned.

rsr, to answer the initial question - yes, a 15" and 16" will (can) have the same backspacing. backspacing is relative to wheel width (depth) and the mating surface. the extra width in diameter will definitely give you more room for caliper clearance - depending on the situation.

I just spoke with Robert at Stockton Wheels.
They can make a 16X8 for a 60 with 3.25 inch backspacing.
They'll run $135.00! Powdercoated black and reversed.
