Sorry all, this seems to be a worn out subject. Did the search but came up with plenty of 40's and 80's.

1988 fj62, changing the wheels, I wand to run 15x8 wheel with 33x11.50's. Needing a brand and the backspacing that won't rub the caliper or cause any other problems. Yes, OME 3inch lift.....Please help

You need a wheel with 3.5" of backspacing or a little less, such as 3.25". Few, if any, current vehicles call for a 3.5" backspaced wheel, so most shops don't stock them.

Do a search, and you will find lots of info on this topic.

I Just bought some wheels from Summit. They were very helpful on the phone.
The wheels are similar to stock look. The website only shows a 3.75 backspacing, but over the phone i got a 3.375 backspacing (not custom, were in stock) for the same price. It's reasonably close to the caliper but didn't rub on a trip across the state or a hard weekend wheelin'. I run 32x10.50 swapers btw. I am more than happy with them for $49 ea.

Here's the wheel http://store.summitracing.com/defau...eywordSearch&DDS=1&N=115&target=egnsearch.asp

Shipping was free. I hope this helps.
PS i always use the phone to order from summit. They rock and take care of me every time.

Just picked these up for an awesome price. 5 rims, free shipping. Backspacing is 3.25" and they clear everything fine. 3.375" is a great B/S option, as well. Going with 32x11.5 on these.

Hey Nota treehugger...
What tires are you buying that they come in 33x11.5? I have never seen those, but I WANT EM'! Most everything Ive seen are either 33x10.5 or 33x12.5. Im a little sketched by the 12.5's just cuz I donno if they'll rub or not. Ive got 32x 11.5's now and they fit perfect with NO RUB.

What do you think about going with 16X8 w 3.5 bcakspacing and a 28575R16?

Form what I've looked up the tires are 33" tall and have a greater load carrying capacity. Plus they're are lots of options.

kurt, specs are 15x8, 3.25" b/s, eagle rims. being sold on ebay for $335 for 5 rims, no shipping. i was going to buy from JTO until i ran across these. seller's ID is 'tom_katz'. i had no issues dealing with them.

toadhopper, if i had it to do over again, i'd probably opt for 16" rims just for the added choice in tires. lots of companies now have new tires that are mainly in the 16-18" range.

I have these wheels on my 40 right now in 15x10" 3.25" b/s. I had to grind my calipers a little. FYI.

I plan to move them over to my 60 this weekend if time permits. I'll let everyone know how it goes if I have time to do it.

you need 3.5" or less backspacing to clear steering components.

Where the problem comes in is with all the different wheel designs. The shape of the inner wheel will determine if it will rub the caliper. Not the backspacing. Wheels that have worked in the past have since been redesigned sligtly and now rub the caliper. So often you have to grind the caliper or use a 1/4" wheel spacer. Most grind the caliper. What ever wheel you choose mount in on the truck and spin the wheel while its up on lift/jack to make sure it does not rub. Half way down the block is not the place to put your old wheels back on. Don't ask why I know this...

maybe this pic will help. backspacing will only effect this area of overall fit. Even with 3.5" of backspacing the tie rod could remove an inner wheel weight for you if it was large enough. My Eagle Alloys are very close to my tie rods. I used the stick on weights to balance the tires. This pic is of a basic black "rock crawler" type wheel. They were on the truck when I purchased it. Therefore I do not have part numbers or details for them.
