XOverland Ranch Experience!
IMG_8593 (1).JPEG

I was given the opportunity to visit the XOverland Ranch and Demo the new 2024 LC250 1958 Edition. I was invited to this event with Ressyler Toyota of Bozeman. I was there with a bunch of salesman from Toyota. Helping teach the guys who actually sell these cars was fun! Now the salesman might actually understand what all the buttons mean. Thanks to the 406 cruisers club for offering me this opportunity and to Ben at hatch adventures for the loaner land cruiser! Both of the LC250s are available for rent from

Amenities: 7 cabins, each cabin had its own shower and air conditioner. These things were ultra plush. Nespresso coffee maker and a small kitchen. Some had double beds. I slept in the “Hilary” cabin. I was told it was an old wedding venue. I don’t want to know what they are going to charge for a night in one of these cabins. They told me no dogs allowed for this event.

The road house: pretty cool building where they served dinner and breakfast, the chill out place with a coffee bar and a nice back patio.

Food: the entire event was catered! Tacos and Brisket! Well done XO. I was well fed all weekend long!

Classrooms: They have a classroom near the off-road demonstration course called the LAB. We had a lot of good discussion about the different kind of traction control and 4wd systems and how to apply them into different scenarios! Turns out there’s more to overlanding then just turning the 3X dial! I wish I could remember these guys names!

Off road education course: they had a number of different obstacles. A hill climbs and decent. A easy rock garden, a straight section with whoops and dips, a ditch crossing to go across and different approach angles, a Aussie style drop in to a deep ditch, and a flex section to get the vehicles on three wheels teetering. Much fun was had by all.

Offroad recovery scenarios -They ran us through a very through recovery scenario where they got the 5G TRD PRO runner “stuck” and we winched it to safety. And changed the scenario sightly as it progressed. IT was actually quite good.

Back property off road tracks- they have a bunch of different roads that cross the back section of the property. THE VEIWS!

“Rock Crawling” track- they took us through a short rocky section of the property that went up a hill. Nothing crazy but good to practice on and about as hard as I would feel comfortable going up in a brand new rental with street prius tires on it.

“Devils toboggan” – this was an obstacle on the back section of the ranch. It is a long hill. Id says about 200-250 yards long and steep and narrow with side where it was cut into the side of the hill. Lets call it at least 30% grade and loose gravel and scree. Its long enough that I would think twice about driving up it. And if I did it would be triple locked and at 5psi and full send. I was the eighth vehicle to drive down it so it was pretty town up while I was driving down it. Serious respect to crawl control after driving this obstacle. Its literally set the dial at one and just hod the wheel. It made this decent mindless. Just sit back and enjoy the view. Straight down. There also was a noticeable difference in the what we kept referring to as the Gen 2 crawl control vs the OG crawl control. The tacos with Gen one CC were noticeably faster, slid more on the scree and they made the very loud sound. If anyone hasn’t heard first gen CC in person it sounds like there a rock or something in the brakes. It’s not a pleasant sound. The LC is smooth, and silent. It was slightly entertain hearing the comments from the others driving the G1 CC about how much better the LC was doing it.

also forgot they have a couple of fishing ponds, a lot of the salesmen were catching fish, said it was small mouth bass. They also had a long range chooting range and a short range for handguns. we ran out of time to check out the ranges but there's always next time!

So when i was there they said they are scheduling a open house/ grand opening for July 19th weekend. Campsites available and sounded like they were gonna try and charge a gate admission for normies but i think we could try and work some sort of angle where club members get in for free or discounted. they wanted a good showing of Toyotas there for the event. would also be a great opportunity to recruit new members for the club or sell t-shirts i would think if they let us set up a table or something. I'm defiantly trying to make it out there again.

I was also talking to the British guy. Pretty sure his name is Chris. He runs private recovery/training/driving classes and is a certified instructor. This dude knows his stuff. Charges something like $2000 a class so if the club wanted to set something up with him we could do a private class for club members and split the by in depending on the level of interest could be a pretty decent deal if its split 10-15 ways. He was defiantly interested in doing something like this.

IN CONCULSION:
You need to go hang out here because its basically overlanders paradise. Toyotas, guns, good food, good company, seriously everything.

and ill post more glamor shots as they become available! Ben @ hatch was taking a lot of high quality photos of the LC250 for the website so that's coming!

I am speechless (and a little delayed even to respond).

Hey Mud friends, I'm Ryan the Operations guy for the XOVERLAND Ranch and co-instructor alongside Chris Walker for the event @ttFJC documented so well! Thanks for such a thorough review, we had a blast hosting the crew and thanks Toyota Bozeman for sending them all out.

We'll definitely pull off a secret event for 406Cruisers sometime soon, but till then we'd love to have you all come out for the Grand Opening. A day pass is cheap and you'll get to drive one of 18 brand new Toyota BOF Trucks that Toyota HQ is sending up to the event. This event is NOT the one for you to drive your own rig on the course. However, I know a guy that might be able to give the 406Cruiser Crew a "Vendor" Parking spot (or 2 or 3 or 4...) so you can rep the Club.

Right now we're expecting RedArc, GooseGear, Equipt, @GonDirting, @storytillnow, and a bunch more invites out to Overland Industry folk and other Media Creators. In the end we're simply trying to invite a ton of friends and show off the first baby steps of the Ranch development.

If you need to chase me down on the phone talk to @REZARF
