Hey Guys,

Been around the forum for a while and finally wanted to say Hi, and introduce my "new" to me 1985 BJ60. Currently it is located in Maple Ridge, BC and will become my new camping, trail, and windsurfing/kiteboarding rig for my wife and I.

Here are the Specs:
3B (375,XXXkm), 2.5" Belton lift, ARB Bull Bar, Safari Snorkel, Hella 500's, H55 Tranny/T-Case, 4:56 gears, 5 33x10.5 BFG A/T's, custom 2" exhaust, CB with Larssen whip antena, JVC deck with JBL speakers, class III hidden hitch, 7 pin with trailer brakes, tranny skid plate.

Was able to Christen the rig during a 1 hour drive home with some deep snow and blizzard conditions a few days ago, it handled the snow with ease and I couldn't wipe the smile off my face the whole way home.

I had a bit of trouble this morning, we have recently been getting some cold temps around here (around -20C) and my fuel filter froze solid on me this morning (might of had some Biofuel or summer diesel in the tank). After about 30mins with a blow-drier on the fuel filter and lines and a few Glow's, I was able to get it started.

The previous owner, Greg (fellow mudder) took real good care of the rig, I hope to continue the tradition.

Hope to see you guys around,

Cheers, Justin

Very nice and congratulations !

Nice rig you've adopted there.
You may find that the 4.56 gears will be too much gear with just the 33s. I'm running 37s with 4.56 and maintaining highway speeds can be a chore (revving high=thirsty).

The 1985 BJ60 came with 3.73/3.70 gearing, so from my experience perhaps a 4.10 gear set, or a taller tire (I was even running out of gear with my 35s on the highway), I loved my 32s and 33s with the stock 3.70/3.73s.

By no means am I dissing your ride or pointing fault, this is mearly an observation, I'm sure your 'Cruiser performs brilliantly off-road, but welcome to the addiction.

Thanks guys, it took me a while to find this rig and I had been searching for a while and test driving a lot of rigs before this one came along. Being a Canadian BJ the body isn't perfect, it still has a bit rust for me to work on.

Thanks R.O.M for the heads up on the gearing, I haven't had much of a chance to do much highway driving yet, and when I have it was at pretty slow speeds (3rd gear) because of all this snow we have been getting. But now that I know about it, I will keep it an eye out for it.

She's beautiful. The first thing I'd do to that truck is fix the rust and take measures to prevent future rust. One winter on salted roads has turned my clean 87 into a rust bucket.

Sweet 60, I am glad for you.. Now I am just a little jealous but very happy for you. Congrats.

I love it! Hows the rust?

PO took pretty good care of the body, however the driver side rear wheel fender and a small part of the trunk floor (also on the driver side) has rust bubbles. The rear lower quarter panels are going to need some attention in the future as well.

I will follow GLTHFJ60 advice and will have to act swiftly on the potential impending rust caner:mad:

There's always the route I'm going. Neglect the body for a year or two, then have fun with an angle grinder for an afternoon, or four, cutting the body up.:hillbilly:
