Hello,

Its time to upgrade the 100. Shes riding like a buick and I prefer the stiffer ride offered by OME. I enjoyed my 80 with a heavy load OME lift and no accessories and still like it with all the add ons. The 100 will not be getting any bumpers for some time but the factory setup even with new shocks is getting boaty.

What do you 100 guys suggest? Looking for factory height to an inch or so of lift and that new tight feel again. Any help appreciated.

Old Man Emu 865 springs and OME sport shocks. Leave your front torsion bars alone.

This a pretty much perfect setup right there. Very comfortable and performed awesome for me off road.

I however replaced my front OME sport shocks with new TJM shocks and so far they feel like they are a little better.

OME 866 and OEM tbars, Bilstein shocks and OME L's. 866 are a little stiff, but that is also coupled with KM-2's.

This is good, but use Radflo's for your shocks and you will be happy!

866 seem like they would be too stiff if the guy doesn't have a steel bumper

Thank you for the replies. This is a daily driver for us and the most it ever does it hit a logging road or spend a day on forest service roads. Most of its life is spent on pavement and long road trips. I use the 80 for the rough and fun stuff and save the 100 as our "nice" vehicle.

I like my Ironman springs and shocks. I am still on stock torsion bars and will be replacing them later this year.

They aren't too stiff. However they make small bump apparent. My grandmother and mother both fell asleep in the back on a long road trip on a concrete highway. I would say 1-10 the ride is a 6 with no load.

865s and Ome t-bars with N100 and N101 shocks is a great setup and huge improvement over stock

If you want to keep the "nice" ride, invest in a higher end shock like Fox, King, or Radflo. I went from OME to Fox Shox and I was amazed at the difference in ride, both on and off road.

yea but those type of shocks are like $1,700++ for the four.

For what it's worth, I"m going with 865's and Bilstein shocks as soon as the funds allow. I also want a slight lift (cranked Tbars) but want to keep a good ride on the road. At 156k miles, the stock shocks can't be performing as well as a good Bilstein or OME shock, so I should be happy with that set up. Also, as cheap as the Bilstein 4600's are, I haven't lost much if I decide to upgrade later.
Let us know what you end up with and how you like it!

For the mostly road driving you do, why not just replace with new OEM shocks and spend just a little on a set of new or used 865's? I have a set on my garage floor that will hit the classifieds as soon as I get around to taking a picture and posting them. They feel close to stock and give you 1-1.5" of lift.
I have Radflos and 860's now, and for regular daily driving, I liked the OEM shocks/Tbars and 865's better......I don't think you need to spend $1500+ on suspension for the occasional dirt road. I wheeled with stock shocks and 865s for a while with other 100's on full OME setups.

I have owned Old Man Emu...and prefer my IronMan suspension I have now...seems to be a great all around suspension on road and off...empty and loaded.

12guns, I put on the ome 6000, 6002 shocks as well as the 865 springs. Went this route from the suggestions here. I am very pleased and think its a huge improvement over even new stock setups. I did crank the factory torsion bars. I'm going to change the tires out soon as well. Tired of looking at those michellins.

I'm curious why folks recommend not using OME T-bars in this situation? I'm put them on with the 865's and find the ride to be very good. No bumper or winch either.

Has someone done a 'before' and 'after' on that ? Or is this just one so many of these mix and match suspension setups going around?

I learned the hard way on BMW suspensions that mix and match can lead you down "a bad road" and cause other unintended consequences. You're basically part an R&D research project at that point.

All this thread illustrate is that if you ask 10 people about ride on a truck, you will get 12 answers. Best advice is to try and find someone in your area with a modified truck and then go for a drive. That is where club and local groups are great. We try to answer these questions on a daily basis and is by far the most difficult thing to convey over the phone or in an email. You need to look at what do you want the suspension to do, that normally is the driving force behind the decision. Also, what, if anything do you want to change from your current setup. Once you have determined that, search for the product that offers you the solution to your needs.

i think you need to ride or drive some other vehicles as one guy will say it is too rough and another will say it is too soft.

from what you are saying i would just replace factory shocks for now and start there as it is daily driver and you dont want to lose that. Then later find some springs to try after riding in comparable vehicles.
