Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure I won't need it for a diesel.

Anyway, I don't even know what the hell it is enough to tell anyone I have it for sale.

1983 FJ60, BTW

Carb fan..

Sweet, thanks.

that's what I was thinking, but since the PO desmogged it and switched over to a holley carb, I wasn't quite sure, and I don't want to tell anyone I have one if I don't know what it is....

I have no clue when it comes to gas powered stuff, to tell you the truth... :D

I'd keep it on because it's the only car that has a fan dedicated to the carb. LC forever!!

Then why do I have one on my EFI FJ62?

Any help on what to do/parts to check if the carb fan isnt working? It used to work about a year ago, but I haven't heard it in a while.

There is a sensor wire connected to your exhaust manifold? that may have broken or, thanks to Joe C. for this one, there is a fuse under the dash. It isn't in the fuse panel but taped up inside the loom. Look for yellow tape and under that is a fuse holder.

Actually I think the fan is there to help cool the manifolds as well as the carb. That's why its still there on the EFI 62s. When you shut the engine off, the exhaust manifold is much hotter than the intake. Since they a bolted together the aluminum intake soaks up a bunch of heat leading to warping and cracking. The fan was an attempt to make the manifold last longer. IMO.

60wag has it. On a hot day and a long trip you can sometimes hear it whirl on. I don't know the cfm but I've opened the hood and it expels the heat really good. Does anyone happen to know what temp triggers it?

No idea about the cfm's or the heat. But i removed mine b/c I'm running a 350. Talked to a few guys and they said I didn't need it. Anybody got any ideas if I need it or not? It definitely freed up some room for my cruse control box.

In a couple months I won't have a carb though-- Injector pump. :)

And I'm gonna want that space for something... Underhood welder or something. I don't know yet, but whatever it is, it's gonna be sweet.
