That's right...I am in search of a solid axle Toy to convert into a Formula Toy with a Hendrix Chassis. I don't care about the body, all I need is a good frame and running gear. I prefer a whole truck since the little things really add up on a build like this.

Please keep your eyes open for me.:)

This thing sounds cool Jim, got links?

Sweet...daddy likes :D Jim must have a bender or something!!!

I look forward to the build, no bender needed you buy the chassis already to weld on to the frame.

Jim, I have a lead on a Toy here in Espanola. It is carbed and a 5 speed. They are asking $2500. If you are interested I can get you a contact number.

That's pretty cool. You could bring all your family crawling with that machine.

Because there is no body, is there the necessity for a lift, or can you just put on bigger tires with the stock suspension? I have a parts truck ('85 FJ60) that is missing the front end body and rear wheel quarter panels. I thought that'd be a neat crawling machine if I sliced off the rear cargo area and took out the rear wheel-wells. I could just take out the window, move the rear upper hatch door forward 2'. I seem to remember seeing something like that in the Trails magazine. No fenders means you might be able to put some much larger tires with no lift. Maybe I'd just have to get wheels with a different offset or some spacers.

For $2500 it would have to be pretty nice...do you have any details?

Are you offering the 85 for sale? I might be interested...

As far as your question goes. Most F-Toys run approx. 3" of lift (to provide some travel) and 37"-38" Tires.

Once it's for sale, it will only be a frame, axles and what's left of the body (no front end body parts and no rear quarter panels). If you think you could use that, then it's better than sending it to salvage to be squished. I might EBAY the more valuable stuff (like doors, dash parts, etc.) if my only other option is to send it to salvage (or maybe Gorman would buy it). I'm planning to use the motor, trans and t-case in my '72 40. But I'm still a couple years off from having time to do that. I need to finish my degree first.
