I don't know what people are doing for replacements for these.
You could try PB Blaster on the outside to loosen it up.
I think muratic acid on the inside is supposed to dissolve scale.
I think our valves are different than FJ40 heater control valves.

I'm going to try CLR. Worst case scenario the plasitic seal on the top disintegrates.
