Looking for a set of these...

Thanks,

Dom

Have you tried the dealer?

Probably would have gotten them in the US if Toyota hadn't stopped importing the pickup to the US market back in 1967. North America (Canada) is the only place these were used that I know of. Australia and Europe had a single fixed nut in the B pillar similar to the fixed nut used by Toyota from 73 to 77 FJ40s, just little behind the B pillar. Canada was also the only market that received the relief vent in the top of the 4X series.

Like I posted before believe both Australia and Europe markets got a single fixed nut on each side at the top of the B pillar. I did some research before finding my set from Canada. Only reason I know about them was someone I know purchased a 45 hard top that came from Canada.

Maybe a nice guy in Calgary could reproduce them? are they the same, left and right?

Don't have spare for either side but curious have you how your going to mount the main section below this? I picked up the bracket used on the 40 series for less then two years in the US before it switched to the roll bar. Test fitted it this weekend when I was around my 45 and didn't a straight forward way to mount it. Would think it needs to feed pretty straight off the roller or the edge might fold over and bind up.

John-

I'm going to gather the stuff up then sort it out. I'm not sure about the bottom yet. Want to post a pic of the lower piece you have?

Definitely need to be straight up and down if possible. The 40's seat belts lock up quickly if off kilter just a bit.

Dom,

The center bolts of the Canadian three-point belt retractors are mounted about 3 inches rearward of the B pillar, on the reinforced seam joining the upper cab to the lower cab. They look to be a near vertical drop from the Canadian corner mount upper point.
Let me know if you need some photos.

I didn't snap any pictures when I was up north but I have 77 FJ40 that has them. Didn't want to remove figure drilling the spot welds would put some nice hole in the otherwise perfect top. Seeing the pictures Bear posted they are completely different. I am wondering if I could cut down and weld the bottom section with the reinforced nut in the correct location. Using the whole thing would probably restrict the top from being removed. I can get you pictures of the one in the 77 top. A Australian imported 84 FJ47RV showed up in a local junk yard that had the brackets and I drilled the spot welds and removed them. Believe those brackets were only used 1/76-8/77 which makes them harder to find them most hard top parts.

Great! That helps a lot. Anyone have a pic of the bottom mount? Is it a separate piece that bolts between the top and tub?

I believe your talking about the black plate between seat belt and the mounting bracket. Looks like the purpose is to angle the belt towards the bracket on the top. My guess is there is a right and left and the bottom bend is used to reference the angle using the mounting hole and hole for the fixed pin. That should be easy to make with nothing more then a plate of steel, drill, vise and hammer.
