Been looking for a FJ40 for several plus months.

Looking for a vehicle within about 2 hours from me

budget is around 12-16K

Most of the ones i've seen either have rot on the floor or asking for 30-40K

Let me know if you see or have anything

Not that you asked for advice but in my experience you would be better off not to narrow your search to within a 2 hour radius of MA. You may get lucky and find one that is already out there however you will likely get a significantly better truck if you bump your budget and be willing to spend an extra $1000 to ship a dry climate truck from out west to MA.
Best of luck
G.

It's as much about the seller as it is about the truck. Getting photos of everything you need plus asking the right questions and you can eliminate or minimize the unpleasant surprises. Some Mud Forum members may be willing to take a peek on your behalf.

Well if there's anyone around or near buffalo or riverside NJ because there are 1 in each location I'm interested in

I would sell my 1968 fj40 California rig for less then your budget. Only reason I would sell is I have another vehicle I am interested in.

I am contemplating selling. I don't have nearly the time Needed (young kids 50+ hr job.... Blah blah blah) to enjoy having an extra 5000 lbs of metal in my garage. It's a 1978 BJ40. Happy to give more details here (for everyone) or by phone if you PM me. Located in Portland ME.

Since this post has drawn this out of me, and for anyone else reading it, I guess it should also be known I would consider trading towards a 200 series.

I suppose more detail is in order.... This BJ is originally from Costa Rica. Imported by Cross Country Cruisers in southern California. It was shipped to Maine and is garage kept. It is NOT 100% original. 2.5" OME lift, forward facing rear seat, and family roll cage. Overall, it is in very good condition as you would expect from a vehicle with it's background. I have the State of Maine title for it. Again, send me a note if you're interested. I think you'll find it to be just what you're looking for if you've seen others in the northeast.
