Did you check out the carbs that trollhole is selling?

No. Trollholes carbs are no smog... i live in California. I need this particular carb so that it can pass smog. Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Um yeah... $500... not saying it won't be worth it based on the comments I have seen but was hoping to find an inexpensive core at least.

Hate to say it, but by the time you find a core and end up sending it to them for rebuild, you may end up spending $500, and it will be many months later.
If that $500 price is for a buttoned-up carb that runs, you may better off pulling the trigger.
Good luck!

Yep I'd agree... no buttoned up carbs. Whatever i end up with has to be rebuilt. It would be a lot cheaper if I could find a core.

Let me see if I can find the paper on a couple CA carbs I bought rebuilt from a company here in SoCal a couple years ago. Paid about 250 for rebuilt Asain carbs that were rebuilt no core charges and the worked good after the bolt on.

Give me a day or so if you can. I'm not very well organized :-(.

I have a spare off a 76 fj40. I think it has all the right smog hook ups on it too. I'll get the numbers off it and post a photo of it. I've been dragging it around for too long now.

Is this what you're looking for? I'm pretty sure it came off my last fj55, which was built mid 1977. It doesn't have a tag on it so I don't know if there's an easy way to ID it exactly. PM me if you're interested.

Looks like it is missing a few pieces here and there... as for identifying it, Aisan stamped a date code on the top of every carb.

How to Decipher the Code:
First Digit: (Numeral) is the last digit of the year. Ex. a 2 could be 1962, 1972, or 1982.

Second Digit: (Letter) corresponds to the month. Ex. A = January, B = February, etc.

Third/Fourth Digits: (Numeral) corresponds to the individual batch of carb's.
Examples: 1D6 = April of 1971 or 1981, which would easily be narrowed by identifying the remainder of the carb components.

or you pick one up for $50-100 and spend $30 on a rebuild kit and do it the weekend everything shows up;)

Yeah right after I finish my time machine and visit 1976... have you tried to find one? I sure would like to know where you find these elusive carbs.
