Would you feel okay buying a 100 series with 100k+ miles on it?

Purchased our 99 at 107,000 and now have about 110,000 and would do it again w/out a second thought. Change all the fluids and never look back.

WOW

I was expecting people saying "yeah do it" but bought there's with 60k on it. But look at all you guys doing the same thing! Very cool.

Nothing holding me back then. Just started a lease assumption process on my BMW and it will be gone in 30 days. Then it's LC shoppin' :)

I bought my current Previa van with 58K on it and now have 220K, it is still running strong. I have sold several Toyotas with less than 120K on them and they are still running per Carfax reports (over 180k on them). With good maintenance and care, the Toyotas will last a long time. Previas are known to run with minimal repairs over 300K. The LC/LX 100s drive like new at 60K, so 100K is simply a maintenance point. They should last 300K plus with regular mainenance.

When I was looking for a LC/LX I looked at many in the Dallas area. Many were from out of state attempting to get better pricing. Look them over carefully for salt and flood damage. Amazingly, they were close in price to the creampuffs. It is buyer beware in the used car market - I passed some "good deals" because I just was not comfortable with the vehicle. If you drive enough of them you will get a "feel" of what one in good condition should be like and hold out for that.

Dealers say they are not able to certify vehicles that have been in an accident per their reports (more accurate than Carfax). Sometimes the certified ones are not much different in price. On older vehicles that could not be "certified" I found Sewell Lexus straight forward on the condition of their vehicles.

I have few qualms about Toyotas with 100K on them that have been well maintained, especially those made in Japan.

Certified vehicles can be in accidents and also I've seen several that had a history of 10K mile oci's.

I just purchased a 99 100 series with 125000 miles on it for 13900 . The 90000 mile service was done, all new hoses, belts, clean fluids, locked, and sunroof.

I am very happy with it so far. I even got lucky and the starter went out so the dealer has to pay for a new toyota one because I had the 2000 mile used car warranty (free warranty too):)

I hope you find one that is in good condition and then you can mod it with no worries.

After you buy it then the real hard decisions come....What to buy first?

I would not be worried about a toyota with over 100K miles. (bought my 62 with 180K 2.5 yrs ago 195K now. And bought the wifes 4runner with 60K miles 3.5 yrs ago now with 136K miles. Only preventative stuff on either of them so far. And we love both of them! Just need more room in the 4runner for the kids. (My 62 is my DD and trail rig. Wife hasnt even tried to get in it since I finished the lift a few weeks back. :)

Buy the lowest mileage you can afford. For me, I would love a 100 series, but for the price they go for its going to have to have 75K or less. Just for us to be able to drive it to 300K miles.
- Always save a little extra for maint. Mods are great but make sure its in top condition 1st.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the car. Mine has 124k and the only non maintanence issues were the starter contacts and power antenna mast. I do understand why you would hesitate to make payments on a high mileage car though.

Buy it

As long as it been taken care of reasonably well, I'd take it. I bought a 1999 LC with 42k miles on it, and now I have 67k with not a single problem. They use a ton of salt on the roads around here, and many vehicles have problems at 50k, but the LC is solid. Also I have a friend that has a 89 LC with 180k miles, with no problems, and another with a 95 LC with over 300k miles, and nothing repaired or replaced, and it runs perfect. Could use a tune up, but needs nothing! These trucks are high quality, and built to last. I expect my to last well over 200k miles, with a reasonable amount of regular service. Good Luck!!

Thanks!

Very close now to purchasing one. I got somebody to assume the lease on the BMW so it's gone.

Probably looking at getting a 2000+ LC with 70-80k miles on it now.

I'm not worrying about mileage at all anymore.
