I went out to work and found our driveway full of cars and to get the FJC out would have been like playing a slider puzzle game requiring a least three sets of car keys. Parked in the back was my sons car so I took that thinking he could go to work in the FJC. No biggie right.....
This is how the phone call went with my college age son-
Dad
--Whats up
Truck is stuck at McDonalds
--Stuck? Like it won't start
No it's stuck
--someone blocked you in?
No it is stuck in the grass
--my truck is stuck in the grass at McDonalds? You know its four wheel drive?
Yes, all four wheels are just spinning
--Why is it in the grass?
I thought I could pull forward through the grass to get on the road.
--All four wheels are spinning??? Do you have Atrac on?
and the locker
--You have to be kidding
Nope, I am calling because I cannot find the winch remote
--You want to use the winch at McDonalds? The remote is on my workbench but the hardwire cable is in my recovery bag in the back
OK, I will sort this myself
Then I find out a Grand Cherokee wants to pull him out but there is no where to attach the pull strap. The GC owner says attach to the chain stay on the hitch but my son wisely declines. A four door Jeep pulls up and offers to help but again no place to attach a strap. Owner says what about around the axle and my son declines again. A 1956 mint 2 wheel drive pickup shows up and the guy backs in, puts the strap around his ball hitch, my son winces but after an hour of no luck says sure, and pulls him right out.
Seems the McD parking lot drains into this "grass field" and with all of the recent rain was a hiding a bunch of muck under a facade of green grass.
I know this group will find humor and poke fun but dang how embarrassing my vehicle was stuck at McDonalds.
