Had steering wheel off to look at the turn signal. Seen that the spring loaded brass thing that rides on the brass ring of the steering wheel was sticky. Lubed it, and it was still sticky and was not extending out all the way either from being sticky or a worn spring. I used a tiny split washer to shorten up the spring so there will be more pressure on the brass thingy. That didn't help too much but it extends all the way now. I then used some tiny flat washers to shim up the brass ring on the steering wheel. That did the job.

While I had the column apart I used some Contact Cleaner & Lube to free up the sticky tilt wheel. The lever would not return to lock without forcing it. Nice and smooth now.

Used same lube cleaner on turn signal. No idea if it solves the short turning turn signal return problem some are having now.

I also am fixing the column cover that has been broken as long as I have had the 80. A little epoxy and longer screw should do the job.
