(don't look good, looks like Spectra wants me to go out to the bonspiel too, so even if a spot became available for River Shiver, I will most likely be curling for work:hillbilly:.)

Ok. I am gonna make alternative arrangements then.

Well you know I'm getting serious when I get some stuff done on a week day ;)
Passenger side mounts all cleaned up, painted and installed, now drivers side all apart and cleaned up, just need to paint and install.

Oh yeah had a bit of an accident when I was putting the lid on the bucket of paint last time. Went to use my boot to push the top on, was a little side heavy so splash boot is black now and so is a big patch of my shop floor!

Did a little more cleaning and painting. Although white firewall is more stock, think I am going to do it up with rubber undercoating to help quite the cab, plus I sorta like the look of a black firewall, and the fact every time I lift my hood to show someone the engine, they will see I did way too much f'n work on this stupid truck that took friggen forever! :hillbilly:

Aside from getting plastered on Friday and having to sleep in till noon, weekend was pretty productive, cleaned a lot of crap, and painted a bunch of it. Sorry for the blurry pics from the iphone. Seems everything is either coated (ie glued on) with mine dust crap or surface rusted and needs to be cleaned and painted.

Now just have to spray the inside of the frame (I already painted in there by pulling a paint soaked rag through, but just noticed I didn't get every where, so figure I should spray it with a sholts gun with hose attached), finish rubber painting the fire wall, finish cleaning up the electrical rats nest at the positive terminal, then it's engine install time!

Yup, sucks we are sort of busy at work so haven't touched it in a month again, but as soon as I can pull a bit of time off will get on it hard, cause I can see the end of the rainbow now. Thanks Chris, nice to see the otherside of the world watching as well.
Cheers,

watching from afar

Yeh , i,m watching haha
i would love to have your skills with steel work , its looking good

Did a bit more work, finished cleaning up the electrical at the batery terminal, started mounting the e-brake, and pulled the gas tank from the shed to start cleaning it up. Oh yea and sprayed the inside of the frame some more. Now just a little clean up and paint and should be ready to mount drivetrain soon, course this weekend will be write off due to Kegger! :hillbilly:

More got done, started cleaning the fuel tank so could get it installed before I drop in the drivetrain.

Got the fire wall prepped for engine and gave the front of the frame a quick coad of the rubber stuff like I did under the tub. Then the tank got rubber coated. then got the straps cleaned up painted, the pins were badly rusted but they cleaned up nice, ready for tank.

Then as I was going to paint over the primer of the blasted tank skid plate, noticed there was some rust through, so some patching had to be done, oh well baby steps I guess. Took a few days off work to make a dent on this thing and hopefully get er running in the next few weeks.:hillbilly:

Good to see, your so closed to finished!
The more I see this I should do the same with the 75.
Keep up the good work.

So close, yet so far! so much still to do.

Seeing as I posted this up in the Vancovuer Island page, figure I will give a heads up to anyone watching this thread first dibs, as I don't really want to sell this spare engine to some dummy from the states asking me about compression or fuel milage and all that jazz, because I have never done a test on the engine. Originally was going to use the stock 1HZ in this truck for the build up, but a good deal came up at GandS for an engine with the tranny I wanted, plus all the work was already done for it to just drop in and bolt up turbo which will save me quite a few weekends.

So to make room in the shop, I am willing to let the engine and tranny (don't ask for just the engine, because tranny and transfer come with this thing free, would also include stock axles in with this deal too if some one wants the later than 2000 new school 5 bolt axles that are sitting in my back alley. I am looking for around $3000, but if you give me a good sob story I might go cheaper, but if I have to fxxx around with shipping, time is money for me. Could arange taking it south one time when I am heading to a wedding July long.

Anyway just PM me if interested, will hold off until I get the swap done before I start advertizing the engine elsewhere, but will probably be for a bit more money. Engine does not come with starter or alternator, but does come with new in box yet to install BEB's, I also sourced new fan and fan clutch cause it doesn't come with one out of the mine, then also will come with frame, engine mounts, and crossmember dolly that came with the GandS engine to make swap into another truck fairly simple. Engine ran real good before I took it apart, but definately needs a go through, think it has around 2000 hours in the mine.
Cheers,
Deny

Did a bit more today, along with cleaning the shop to make room for the engine replacement I added a few things to the firewall, painted up the fixed up tank skid plate, then installed the tank, what a bitch on my own ended up scratching a few places which will need to be touched up. Big day tommorow, had a quick glance though and will need to build a custom cross member for the tranny because they are in different locations to be able to run the H55. Yay more work!

Good news is I got the engine and tranny in. Bad news is I will probably have to pull it out again! Looks like the H55 is a no go in this truck, would have to cut the tranny tunnel, mod that, then the custom cross member would have to push forward by a foot, because the damn arms from the suspension are in the way or where the H55 cross member is suppose to be. I think it will be a lot easier to clean up and swap transmissions then to fxxx around with the body and custom cross member, we will see. Goin for a swim to clear my head!

H55s don't like fitting in 79 cabs
I knew this was going to happen
I know why you tried though, after all the stuff I hear about the r151

Fxxx, sorry to hear this. :frown:

Well I never heard anything super bad about them except Crushers saying that the mines never had any problems with the H55 and this new tranny gives them problems here and there. It's not like I was dead set against it, just was trying to turn my new school cruiser into more old school :hillbilly: Oh well, I'll clean up the R151 and slap it in there, wondering if I have to change the clutch stuff from the H55 , didn't really want to get into a clutch job, but I guess it would be easier to do now that it's apart, and way easier than the frame and body mods to get the H55 to fit. Good thing I didn't sell anything until this thing is done, even the damn electrical fittings I am swapping over between the engines so that I can just plug my wiring harness in. Good fun!:hillbilly:
