Do check those breather hoses. Pull them off the axle and see if you can blow air through them. There is a little dust cap on the upper end by the frame. The caps get crudded over with dirt and grease and they clog up. Especially in the rear, a clogged breather can create problems. As you drive, the diff gets hot and the air inside has to expand out. With the breather clogged, the pressure has to release somehow. It will find a way. It will force gear oil out out of your axle seals and into your rear drum brakes. How does the old saying go? "An ounce of prevention..."
Rear diff drained and filled. I bought a cheap funnel at advance auto yesterday. Knew it wasn’t gonna be a smooth fill but I made it work w/ a price of wire hooked over the rear cross member.
