I just peeled mine off last weekend....all except the center dash. Looks way better without IMO. Just strip it off and go naked!

+1 What did you use to remove the adhesive residue?
DMX

You said wood.

btw, some of mine was stuck more than others, i used a hair dryer (no heat gun available) to soften the adhesive backing a bit and make removal that much easier. removing the adhesive (not the residue) was more of a time consuming tedious process that involved various blisters on my fingertips, however, the desired result was accomplished and i like the look much better!

Does anybody have a line on the wood trim kit. The OEM is really garbage, and I am tired of buying their crap!!!
The Lexus wood is much better as it is actually made of wood. Might be able to find it at the wreckers. If removing the LC wood trim, it could help if you ran the heater for awhile to soften the adhesive.

I did not have the wood grain plastic trim in my LC, nor did I want it. The LX has real wood and I like it. The plastic wood grain trim I have seen in 02 and older LCs was in compromised condition. In contrast, all but a couple LXs still looked great.

yeah, in the ones I have seen, the LX's all still looked great while most of the LC's looked like crap. The dealers put that crap on so they could make an extra 500 bucks when they sold the truck new. It is pure doo doo. Looks so much better with just black plastic. Probably because of that, we'll get an LX. It just holds up better long term.

Well you could buy the OEM lexus parts that have wood on it and install them. Would cost you a few grand tho. Its real wood laminated onto the plastic that you guys on the LC have.

Now that i look at that interior on the land cruiser i feel like i have so much wood and i didnt even get the fake "wood trim kit" just the wood it came with plus the shifter and steering wheel package.

Laminate trim kits suck. Period.

When I had my LC, I swapped out the center console & door trim pieces by trolling ebay for a while. Didn't cost much.

The dash console is much trickier because on the LX nav & Nak/ML models it curves outward, leaving a big gap. If you can find a Lexus Premium Sound (factory) dash, it fits fine. Good luck finding that, though.

All in all, I would just strip all the trim and then see if you can pick up the center and door pieces on the cheap.

What's REALLY cool about swapping out the dash console, though, is that the harnesses are identical.
So you can go from a/c dials to climate control. Total plug and play.

Here was my original thread on this topic.

John, if it is at all possible to stick a putty knife between your "wood" trim and the black plastic molding, it is not the same as the LX. The LX wood and plastic molding are inseparable.
