Hey fellas,

I'm looking at a locked 99 that has some of the fake wood insert trim kit sticker stuff on it. I don't even know what to call that, lol. I wanted to see if those are normally easy to get off and get the adhesive off without any damage. It's not carried away like most of the 80 series trim kits I've seen, but I don't like it. It's the only thing keeping me from finally getting into a hundy.

I tried to save the pics from the dealer site but can't seem too.

Thanks for any responses!!!

Use a heat gun (or hair dryer) to warm it up and most of it'll come off pretty easily. Of course, there will always be a stubborn little piece that will stay behind. A little elbow grease and maybe some goo gone will take care of whatever is left.

Take your time and it will all come off nicely. Rush and you'll end up having to buy a replacement kit because you marred up the plastic underneath (as me know I know...).

Good Luck with the 100 purchase.

Awesome! Thanks Fitz!

Do you think a blow dryer would be hot enough? I don't know why ppl do those types of things. I don't wanna have to find spare interior parts lol.

Does anyone have pics of what they replaced their wood trim with? My 99 came with wood as well and it has worn down over the years and I wouldn't mind updating this.

A lot of folks take care in removing the old and leaving everything natural black.

Heat gun and a plastic putty knife, available for $.99 at Lowe's! Take your time, it should all come off and the underneath will be nice and shiny and new.

If you want to replace the wood trim, I believe this is an option folks have used: http://www.carid.com/1999-toyota-land-cruiser-wood-grain-dash-kits/

I was going to do this at first, as my wood trim was flaking and peeling and looked terrible, but everything came off so easily and clean that I didn't feel the need to replace with new faux wood.

Good info thanks guys!

I mucked up my center shifter console trim but I repainted it...I painted it black but will be repainting it taupe to match the interior better.
