For those asking, I used the high density amazon stuff for the radiator to condenser. I used the FrostKing stuff on the shroud to radiator. The high density stuff is too much for the shroud. I still have to close the gap up at the top/front of the radiator.

The cowl went on with the new cowl rubber. Also got the new wiper arms on as well. No dramas.

Thought that rear gasket poked into the bay; too dark to look now.

The eyelash rubbers point forward too!

I was hoping to fire it up today but the shop handing the silicone couplers failed me today. I was promised the first set today so I could be fine tuning over the weekend. No love. So buttoned up everything else. Since I’ll be twiddling my thumbs I guess I’ll work on getting the OBA system ready to start testing as well. Maybe play with the meth injection system. 🤔

All fixed up. The plastic nuts were not coming out without damaging them. Luckily the rubber isn’t glued to them so just the rubber could be removed and repositioned. Thanks for the catch.

After giving it a bunch of thought, I’m going to make the washer fluid tank dual purpose. Originally it was going to be just a meth tank for the meth injection. But I’m going to keep the washer function and instead I tapped the lower blank (where it looks like there was a second pump motor originally) and added the AN4 fitting for the methanol pump. Here is a view from inside the tank.

This may not be terribly exciting for most but since I’m going to be running #MethInjection I will be needing a tank. I don’t want to add a tank. But our trucks already have a #methanol tank. It’s called the windshield fluid reservoir. It’s going to remain a washer reservoir but it’s also going to supply the methanol (washer fluid) to the turbo to cool the intake temperature down significantly.

The new tank got a new motor. The flat spot in back (that looks like it used to be for another pump motor) instead got drilled and tapped for 1/4NPT so that a 4AN fitting could be added. Next I was able to figure out that the tank covers the auxiliary battery hold down. But this truck isn’t getting dual batteries. So instead I’m going to use that hole to route the float wiring. Now that larger circular impression in the bottle gets a .75” hole drilled dead center. Then the float gets mounted and tested. Good to go.

Clean execution! The float is a nice touch!

Looks like tomorrow morning is time to button her up. Hood is going back on along with the grill and bumper. I have a s***ty OME steering stabilizer going on ONLY because the rest of the lift is OME and I’m not touching anything else suspension or steering at the moment. But the original one was leaking. It was time.

How the hell are you going to zinc plate all that?

I haven’t decided what I will ultimatum do with the hood IF anything. I want to see how the turbo, with the blanket, affects the hood if at all. Are louvers needed? Doubt it but just in case. Is there a better heat barrier material? Probably. I have ideas when I learn more. I ordered a new pad from the local Toyota but it was delivered neatly folded clean in half. So I said no to it and just went with plan B which was the DupliColor Fabric spray in matte black. After waking up really early to make sure it wasn’t too hot out yet, spent some time marketing and then dyeing the panel. It’s a very nice refresh and makes the panel look new.

Replaced all hood rubber including the bumpers. You can see how compressed the old bumpers are after 22 years. When putting in new hood bumpers I make a HUGE ASS ASSUMPTION that they have never been adjusted before. So I measure from the top of the core support to the rubber casting line and then duplicate it over to the new hood bumper. After that the hood went on, slight adjustment to center, and finally hood lights were installed. These are powerful enough to give you a good thump on the chin if you aren’t paying attention 🤔
