Which model (or what vehicle did it come from) is that? I found a Gentex 453 out of an 06 Maxima for $12.00 at LKQ Pick Your Part. The integrated backup screen would be nice.

Ok so all BUT 5 of you have received your mirror arms. To the last five that ordered I'm really sorry. There was either a machining error (the arm didn't fit into the block pocket) or the powder coating looked like ass. Machining or stripping means tolerances are blah. I'm re-machining another batch of these so that I can send these out. Sorry about that.

Ordered. Mirror arrived already, excited. Any wiring tips?

I'm splicing into the sunroof/overhead console wiring. There's a constant hot in the bundle. I ended up fishing a wire down to the cigarette lighter wiring that is switched.

It’s just the temp and camera verssions that require new wire runs.

What model has all the bells and whistles (cam/temp/home/compass/mirror/etc.) with the easiest wiring? I've found a few OEM models and a few branded models but can't make sense of what the simplest and most inclusive solution is. Any tips?

Its a GHSHL4, I believe from a Subaru. I wish I could say it was $12.
Edit- should have refreshed the page first. Thats the one I used, has everything but temp. Its the 12 pin version. Wiring info is here, somewhere down in the comments:

Next batch is getting close. Arms went to powder coating and blocks going to anodize next week.

Powder coating will be done on Monday as will the anodizer. two of the pieces need to get laser etched then orders can ship. Right now looking at end of next week.

I think I found a mirror with all of the features I'd like but it also comes with onstar. Not exactly sure what onstar does besides help you in an emergency. I'm curious, does anybody with onstar experience know if that feature will still be functional?

Gentex actually sells an aftermarket OnStar equipped model with all the sensors and what not. They are sold at Best Buy. I don't think a standard GM unit would work as the sensors are in the actual vehicle.

Only problem is I stripped the head on one of the screws that holds the stock mirror when I installed the ARB Outback roof console a couple of years ago. The screw just wouldn't budge, even with an extractor. I had to drill out the head and now only 1 screw is holding the front part of the console and the mirror itself. Do you think it could still support the weight of this Gentex mirror arm?

Yup no worries.

Got the mirror arm today. Fit and finish is top notch! Very sturdy, no wiggling at all. Only issue I encountered was that because the new base is a bit longer, the stock mirror snap-on cover wouldn't fit flush because it hits the ARB Outback roof console.

I just used a little more force to snap it in and now the mirror base cap fits perfectly. It's great to have a lot of mirror choices!
