Im going to drop the 40 at maaco tomorrow, dont ask me why with all the rust I should just rattle can it, its not going to cost a whole lot so if nothing else it should be an interesting experience. I've already done most of the major body work so all they will really be doing is a sand and paint. Im going to change colors, I thought about going back with red but decided to go with a color called phantom grey, its a Toyota color that came on the Tundra and I believe it was also on the Matrix. Heres a picture of the way it was when I bought, I've done a few things to it but it still looks pretty much the same now as it did then. The guy said it will probably take 3-4 days to get it back so I'll post some after shots.

Something told me I should have posted this up a few weeks ago while I was going through the decision making process:doh:

Good luck w/ the paint job. Depending on what you are going to use your 40 for a rattle can job can suffice but won't be as shiny as a gun-sprayed job - even from Maaco. I'm rattle canning my Pig right now but I plan on scratching it to kingdom come. Let us know how it turns out! I considered Maaco but I'm sure they would want too much for a two color job.

I really wanted to rattle can it because I kinda plan on scratching the crap out of mine also since the tub is pretty well shot but I didnt want to go through the process of painting the interior so I left it red and if I rattle canned it I would have went with olive drab or something like that and would have definitely went flat and I was afraid the olive drab and red wouldnt have looked the best together except for maybe at Christmas time. My plan is to drive and wheel this one for a few years and when my funds get a little better do a tub change and a frame off so hopefully thr maaco job will last a few years until then.

plug and shrug man plug and shrug. best of luck cant wait to see it. Saw the fender patch tonight, looked good man.

Well I picked the 40 up today with the help of jfz80, and I gotta say all in all Im pretty well pleased. There are some places that they could have done a better job, but Im also a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I didnt pay for a better job. I didnt have them paint the interior, was going to try to get by with leaving it red because the tub is herculined black and the only thing left red was the hard top sides and the dash but it looks like crap so I will end up painting the rest of the interior myself (rattle, rattle, rattle). I took some progress pics and some after pics as well but I cant get them posted (too large).

hope this resize works

Nice job....how much did Maco charge ya if ya don't mind me asking....did they take any dents out or did they just paint it? Thanks for the info

Chuck

Thanks Troll, Im pretty pleased with the way it turned out, there are some places that could have some more work but its gonna get wheeled hard pretty soon so im not to worried about it. They only did some very minor body work at Maaco, With the help of a neighbor I did the majority of it before I dropped it off, all they really did was a heavy sand and a spray. They charged me $550 CruisinTiger, which is definitely more than I wanted to spend but thank god for the 0% financing they have going on right now or I wouldnt have been able to do it nor would I have put that much money into that tub. I checked several places here locally and they were the cheapest by far.

steve, that turned out pretty good. Can't wait to see it up close.

Thanks Eric, Thanks Concrete.............but you really dont want to see it up close do you? I mean I personally think that you would be able to get a much better view and tell alot more about it from a more suitable distance like a hundred yards or so:rolleyes:

The rig just looks Mean now....I love it!
