Headed out Saturday to have a look at a 2008 LC with 88K miles. Original owner, bought his wife a 2016LC so is selling this one. Seems to have been dealer maintained all its life but lived in PA.

Video seller sent me was a bit grainy and shot in the rain but undercarriage looked clean from what I could tell.

Video shows heated seat button missing and seller mentioned DVD player doesnt work. I have kids so I'll probably be looking to repair DVD.

Recently replaced brakes and serpentine belt.

No cooling system replacement noted so i'll probably be a good idea to expect that along with the timing belt service by 100k? Anything else that should be coming up?

Tires have half tread left he claims, really only want them to get through MD state inspection and last through winter so I can add OME and tires next spring ;)

If all goes well, i'll leave a deposit and pick it up sometime next week!

Time to retire my 2006 Expedition with 203K miles :woot:

I hope it goes well! If the truck has been in PA winter corrosion for 10 years, it would have needed really good care to have a clean undercarriage! No timing belt on these engines, so you're good there already. If the rear DVD needs replacement, you'll be better off just putting aftermarket systems on the headrests; those OEM units are spendy. Don't forget to check the Carfax. There's lots of other threads on here about pre-purchase inspections and thing to look for.

Here is one of many:

Pre Purchase Inspection, Post Inspection & PM of Toyota or Lexus 200 series

Thanks for the link!

I agree, and am skeptical about the undercarriage as its lived in PA all its life but we'll make a day out of it with the kids and take a drive out there. Should be fun either way.

That's the spirit!

There nothing that really compares to personal inspection when it comes to things like rust.
I'm always amazed when people buy expensive used vehicles without seeing them close up.
Have fun, and be picky. If it's not right...move on.
Honestly, I'd consider flying South or West.
LA area always has LC's that are rust free.
Bought my 08 in LA area and it was so clean at 6 years old/48K miles...that even the white, paper parts-stickers on the undercarriage were free of any blemish. Not even DUST.

Im most definitely down for a flyout/drive back scenario. Hoping to get lucky as im busy with work/holiday/etc for the next few months however. Always wanted to visit Texas however lol

Crawl under the driver side and inspect the KDSS valves. There are a handful of threads on here regarding KDSS valves and their proclivity to rust very quickly and seize as a result (making future adjustment a major chore if not damn near impossible if you're unlucky).

A little surface rust on the frame wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, but it the KDSS valve body is corroded, I would personally walk.

I bought my ‘13 sisght unseen out of TX. It had a perfect car fax, was low mileage and one owner. I figured how bad could it be with only 23K miles on it. The only surprise I had was that it only had one key. Had a decent report with the used car guy I spoke to on the phone and it all worked out. Hardest part was arranging shipping but that’s another story.

Saw the car in PA. Guy was asking $28,900 with 88K miles. Unfortunately there was more rust underneath than I was comfortable with (drove great of course) and the body/interior had 10 years of kid/pet wear.

Passed on the truck. Probably wont last long

I think this is the same LC I looked at last year (it's been for sale for awhile).

I remember it being quite rusty underneath and there was an accident (rear end collision) on the CARFAX. The owner was straight forward about that and sent me the body shop paperwork detailing the repair. It was nothing serious, just a bumper replacement IIRC, but it was there.

No accidents on this truck's car fax. front bumper had some broken clips around the driver side headlight though. Great seller, super nice and insisted on me making an offer. He wasnt offended at my $25K offer but considering the work it needed in my eyes, I dont think i was too far off. Not really looking for a project however.

I've reached out to some buddies that have access to the Auctions... would prefer to buy from private, loving, owner but a clean LC for the right price would win.
