Ugh. I hate when POs attack (especially the wiring)

All that loose wiring would be hard to trace down without hovering over it. If you live in the DFW area, drop by and we'll look it over :D Otherwise I'd say you need to pick up the Haynes and FSMs from Toyota. The wiring diagram in the Haynes manual is much easier to get through, but the FSM (field service manual) is more in-depth, but in mine, it's one basic diagram that breaks out into differnt models (Deisels, 70s, etc) and is a bit of a pain to get through. The Haynes breaks it down from 2F to 3FE (basically) models and is much easier to read.

You might also look into joining a local Cruiser club - there's a wealth of info out there and help, too!

Just because the connectors are different colors doesn't mean it's hooked up wrong (it could be) because something may have been replaced with an aftermarket part, etc. If you can take some photos and post them, that might help.
 
10-4 I have the Haynes. I'm in Colorado but I have guy in my neighborhood with a cherry 60 that I might have to ask for a peek under the hood. I'll check back in next week after I launch an attack of my own. Luckily, I haven't found many problems caused by the PO with the exception of neglect. The good news is she runs great! We've finished most of the simple stuff (shocks, swaybar links, belts, hoses, vacuum lines, tires, battery, fuel pump, coolant sensor, console, swing-out spare, new rear bumper & some other stuff). I have the body work about 1/2 done (rust and a few minor dents) and a BDS lift sitting in the back waiting to be installed. The lift will leave me with 4 near new stock height shocks (off brand) and 2 near new stock front swaybar links of anyone needs them.
 
Thanks, Swank... mine is still not doing what it should. I think i am gonna break it down tomorrow and clean it out... lube it. I guess I will see how it goes.
 
Well, I removed the fan this weekend and cleaned it out. My problem was a piece of foam that had been caught up in the blades of the fan. Once that was out, I put a few drops of WAHL clipper oil on the motor shaft. Re-installed it and took a drive out to the beach for dinner. I shut the engine off and the fan started right up (before my key was even out of the ignition) and ran like new. That made me happy.
