Here's the latest stupid question. I'm thinking about replacing the stock gauges with an Autometer multigauge and speedometer. Has anyone done this and if so, how did you get around the plug in the OEM gauge? Is a better alternative to adapt stock gauges to the Chevy V-8?
All help would be appreciated since I don't know a damn thing about wiring.

Running a Chevy 350 with NV4500 tranny. Not sure of the exact model on engine.

well, the oil pressure gauge is a plastic line run to the back of the intake manifold where it meets thetop of the block, a fitting screws right into a small traingle, the temp gauge is usually bolted into a copper fitting on the driver's side of the block about 6-8 " down from the valve cover, the tach connects to a pink wire going to the igniter/coil, and the volts to the alt wire, does that help?

Yep, thanks.
