I'm looking into repairing/rebuilding/replacing the wiring harness in my 92 HZJ73 (24 volt system). The harness has been utterly ruined by somebody searching for a 12 volt source to power an aftermarket head unit. They were able to find it, somehow pulling from the A/C amplifier but screwing with the entire harness in the process. Potential issues include my skill level, not an electrician and rebuilding from scratch will be a considerable challenge although I can more or less understand what's going on when looking at the wiring diagram. The truck is also my only vehicle so it's iffy to not have it for multiple weeks. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated, this truck definitely needs some work and I don't have the resources to make it happen. I should have done a better job inspecting the vehicle at the time of purchase but that ship has sailed and I don't have the heart to sell it to someone else in it's current condition.

So what's the question
What's the best way to go about solving this problem? Is buying a new harness my best option? Where can I find a harness to replace mine? Should I find a generic auto electrician that can rebuild this in a "reasonable" amount of time? How much would that cost? Literally any kind of help, guidance, maybe even a "good luck s*** bird" at the very least.

Doesn't look that awful.
Get yourself an EWD, a multimeter and clean it up a bit. 🤷‍♂️

I was going to say the same thing. From the photos it seems like the repairs only need to be behind the radio.

I had those same clips used on my HZJ77 and I took them all off when I removed the unnecessary aftermarket electronics and used liquid tape / shrink tube to repair it all. Haven't had any problems afterwards.

It’s the entire harness, the last photo is from the kick panel next to the fuse box. Every inch of the harness has been touched, wrapped in electrical tape and stuffed behind the dash. I’m willing to rebuild the harness from scratch but I need guidance from someone that knows what they are doing.

Oh ok. I wasn't looking at it that closely. I had assumed it was factory tape and all.

Electrical Wiring Diagram.
Ah, yes I do have one, I actually have 2 that are slightly different. One is a 90-92 70 series manual, the other is Aug 1992. They seem to be different in some places such as what is behind the glove box is either the A/C amplifier or the preheating timer, unless they are the same module.
