I've been searching and can't find the answers. Does anybody know the best length and dia. wire rope for a PTO winch?

3/8ths or 5/16ths

100ft. or 125ft.

????

Thanks for any help.

No I haven't. Not sure what that means. It's a stock Toyota PTO winch. How do you run the measurements?

Thanks for the help.

You are more generous than myself. I thought that post was the opposite of help.

I wish I had the answer, but I've never had to buy cable for a stock pto winch. 100' should be plenty. I think I would go with 3/8.

I would guess one would measure the width of the drum and divide by 3/8 to see how many rows you can get. Multiply that by the diameter of the drum to find out how many feet you can get in one wrap. Figure out how tall the drum area is to find out how many wraps you can get on it. Multiply that by the first number and you can tell roughly how many feet will fit on the drum.

Roughly unless you want to add 3/8 to each wrap diameter as you calculate.

Or you could just ask on a land cruiser forum and hope someone who has already bought rope for a stock pto winch can just answer the question. ;)

That just gave me a headache. I think I'll go with your last sentence. :)

Thanks Gumby.

OK, I'll punch in the numbers and see if it's close to what other guys post.

Thanks!
