I have a HH187 and am running .30 solid wire through it. Last night I noticed it stopped feeding. Check my line pressure which was good. Checked the spool which spun freely. I looked at the drive rolls and removed and reinstalled it w/ the proper orientation. I watched as the drive rolls spun while I pulled the trigger but it wouldn't feed the wire, which I had pulled some slack from the spool so the wire was loose. What would cause the wire to not feed? I have the original liner in the welder. Could it be in need of a new liner? I cut and pulled the wire out of the welder and didn't notice anything wrong w/ the line that I pulled through the liner. Any help is appreciated.

Is the tension on the drive rollers set properly? Is the wire welded to the contact tip? Just a couple of simple things to check.

I had set the tension from 2.5 all the way to 5 and it still wouldn't feed. As far as the tip, it was moving through the tip ok before and the wire did not appear to be welded to it. I bought a new liner and have a bunch of extra .30 tips at the house. I'll try that in the morning.

Did you recently change wire size and get the drive rollers confused? Typically there are two sizes on the rollers and you reverse them to change sizes.

Nick,

Does the drive roll move when you don't have any wire in the welder? Any chance you're between voltage taps?
Remove the contact tip and see if it will feed. My first guess is contact tip.

It was the tip. I put on a a new tip and cleaned up the part where the tip attaches to the nozzle and it feeds fine now. I don't know why I didn't think to look at that before going straight to the liner, oh well. While I was at it I switched my wire to .35 to weld up my rear tire carrier build.

Thanks for the help guys!

Glad it wasn't anything more than the tip. I've been using my HH187 like crazy the past year and have had no problems.
